Marik Posted January 26, 2008 Share Posted January 26, 2008 The wait is nearly over for the first service pack for Windows Vista, according to sources close to Microsoft.Microsoft has said the highly anticipated service pack would be out in the first quarter of this year, but some say it could be available in the next few weeks, more than a month before the quarter ends on March 31.A Taiwanese news outlet Wednesday reported in a story that Vista SP1 would be released Feb. 15, but “that date is as good as any other,” said Michael Cherry, an analyst with Directions on Microsoft. “For all we know, they could make it available tomorrow.”Through its public relations agency today, Microsoft declined to comment on the Feb. 15 date beyond reiterating the software would be available in the first quarter. Still, several sources who work closely with Microsoft said a mid-February release is not unlikely, and they expect the software to be out before the end of March.Chris Swenson, director of software industry analysis for the NPD Group, said that analysts have heard Feb. 15 as the target for SP1, but it’s not something Microsoft would confirm publicly to give itself time to make adjustments in case of negative feedback on the current release of the software. I'm having my Laptop reformatted to Windows XP. Its an HP DV6000 and its a very nice Laptop especially for $600. What made it suck so hard and made Wal-Mart sell it for a meer $600 was the fact that it came with Windows Vista. Many computers with vista were sold dirt cheap because people won't buy the new machines with Vista on it. I had friends buy reconditioned used Laptops to avoid Vista. If my Laptop won't run XP correctly because HP doesn't have the drivers for XP I'll sell the Laptop on E Bay and buy a reconditioned DV 6000 with XP. Funny thing is I've seen them on line selling for way more than I've paid for the new one with Vista.I hope someone puts up a website called yousuck.com and dedicates it towards Windows vista and how to roll computers that came with vista back to XP. There is nothing Vista can do that XP can't and even when new vista games come out that only support Vista just run the hack and you'll be able to run the software on XP. Vista is a scam and I've read too many reports to believe otherwise. So I'll pay the $200 to re do what Micro$oft has done and that is to get this POS off my computer and get what really works on it.Can't wait for yousuck.com to exist it will be a good website I'm sure if someone wants to start a forum against Vista.
