    Nvidia is reportedly going bonkers with its next-gen Ada Lovelace graphics cards. The RTX 4090, which is going to be one of the top-end models of the series, is rumored to consume 600W, more than 70% increase over the current 3090's 350W TGP. However, there could also be something even bigger and more ferocious from Nvidia as the firm is said to be working on a purported 900W TGP card according to kopite7kimi, who is a prolific leaker of Nvidia stuff.

     

    This 900W TGP card is said to be the full fat AD102 GPU featuring 48GB of 24Gbps GDDR6X memory with the unit being powered by dual 16-pin PCIe 5.0 power connectors. Each such 16-pin connector is capable of delivering 600W of power. Therefore, with two of these on-board, there should be some more wiggle room for this alleged 900W card. The leakster believes this GPU can be a real possibility as the test boards of the AD102 reportedly pack more than two 16-pin PCIe power cables.

     

    Kopite7kimi has also revealed alleged specifications of RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 GPUs. The RTX 4080 will reportedly be based on the AD103 die and feature 16GB GDDR6X memory while the RTX 4070 will purportedly be based on AD104 with 12GB GDDR6 memory. The 4070 will reportedly have a TGP of 300W while the RTX 4080 will have a TGP close to those of AD102 GPUs.

    Unlikely to become a mainstream consumer graphics card then. Reminds me of these cards there.

    @Karlston @DKT27 But the resultant graphics boost and smooth functionality will outweigh the apparently meagre costs associated with power :) 

    High-end users or graphics-hungry games wanting ultra-realistic 4K or even 8K graphics/graphic-conversion will want the hands on this and I guess this is where the market is targetted too. The high cost of the cards again will outweigh any thousands of regular customers. 

    Not to forget the high-end mining industry, for which this card will be a power-mine of its own,  that can reap high rewards from the neglibile increase in power costs will mean more crypto-currency being minted. 

    If it works as the specs record on the paper, it's going to be a huge revenue boost for the company and its users who optimally utilise these cards.
