In an unexpected blow to remote workers and virtual teams, Google Meet is experiencing a significant region-wide outage. The outage began on Tuesday, 2025-11-25 at 21:41 PST (Wednesday, 2025-11-26 at 05:41 UTC). Even though the IP address is resolving, the web interface is not loading, signaling service on the server side is down. This disruption has impacted meetings online through the browser.

According to Google's own report in its Workspace status dashboard, the problem is isolated in the Asia region with a population of over 4.8 billion. Downdetector shows more than 1700 users reported service disruptions, with 62% reporting a website problem and 35% saying Server Connection. The sudden outage surprised people in the region, as they were unable to join meetings. At the time of writing this report, the service has been down for over 3 hours.

Google's dashboard will provide further details on the issue on Wednesday, 2025-11-26 at 02:00 PST (10:00 UTC). As a workaround, customers can use the mobile app version of Google Meet to continue their work, which seems to remain unaffected for users worldwide on both iOS and Android. This band-aid may work for many users, but it is not ideal for professional setups requiring sharing VSCode or work-specific materials requiring desktop access.

It is not the first time that it has faced service disruptions. On 8 September 2025, Google Meet had a global outage caused by an overloaded cache in the Static Content Service (SCS). The incident started at 2025-09-08 17:25 UTC and lasted until 2025-09-08 18:17 UTC. This SCS issue was resolved via rollback.

Earlier this month, Google deep dived into AI and announced the Gemini 3 model lineup, including Gemini Enterprise, to challenge Microsoft. It also launched Nano Banana Pro for image generation and editing.
