Just an small (but major) Firefox related update. Jetpack addons (Addons SDK now) 1.1 Final was released couple of days ago. Sooner or later people will see their normal addons transformed into Jetpack addons now. :)

Hmm, how good/positive of a thing is that? I read only a little about that and how it should bring a big improvement, but never read into it.

Basically, all the current addons are made the older way where it's a bit hard, needs Firefox restart and chances of things getting messed up are high.

With Jetpack, they claim to simplify addon development, users don't need to restart Firefox to install them and they are more likely to be compatible with future versions. It seems very similar to how addons in Google Chrome work.

To install Jetpack addons, just search "restartless" (without quotes) on Mozilla addons. Here. :)

Although with this feature, all old add-on's will still be produced I assume? Or in time would they become absolutely obsolete/not useable.

By old addons you mean the current method ones right? Well it depends on how the devs adopt it. Mozilla wants all the current addon developers to transform their addons to Jetpack addons. I don't remember the date, but Mozilla plans that, at a specified date (or year), about 80-90% of addons should be Jetpack.
