flip2xxxx
According to this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/compareI myself might as well stick with Home Premium. I was going to go to Ultimate but after viewing the above url I dont think I need anything that it offers.I could care less about XP-mode or Domain Join and have no need for additional languages. I use TrueCrypt and Acronis so I dont need BitLocker or Backup extras either. Not stated on the above url was the memory restrictions in Home Premium vs Ultra of which I dont know the particulars BUT my mainboard is limited to 4gb so right now thats not a concern for me.Am I missing something else? flip2xxxx
Check this out. See the "Comparison chart" in the end.Thanx for the lead....looks like I (for me) made the right decision when I installed Home Premium.... The less bloat the better.Windows8 will prolly be out by the time I do my next build anyhow.I don't like cracked software, much less Windows, I recommend using Ultimate with serialHere :why: ...using one of those serials would be like stealing :chair:

I mean an actual benifit that I would notice...not just in theory or a slightly better score in Passmark?
HX1
64 Bit width processing versus 32..meaning that processing is better.. Tasks run smoother and quicker.. IF the OS ( which is in this case ) and software you use is written to properly do so.. Otherwise you still may not notice the difference but it technically is like doubling the throughput of data for processing during calculation through the CPU and in a few other places I believe.. You can look up the differences at the Wikipedia or something for the details.. OR someone here can correct me if I am wrong... Technically the suggestion is not necessarily that you need all of the extra features but you can always use better processing.. :PI am running 7 Ultimate.. Love it.. I have options to change the configuration if I need to and the ability to use LSP/GP and control a whole network if I need to... I feel better in having some f these elements in place and having those options built in.. I don't technically have a system that can handle some of them.. For example I do not even have the ability to run Aero.. but its the difference between having the GMC Fleet truck.. or buying the Escalade.. except in my case it was 'choose one' .. it's not going to matter.. So naturally I got everything full on.. Personally I would weigh in on how old your computer is.. and if its going to need to be replaced.. and the decisions to upgrade.. You could always install in VirtualBox and see the differences for yourself... From what I have seen from Basic.. - Ultimate versions.. If you use your system for everything and are security conscious.. Not just a 'Client-on-a-stick ' ... get Ultimate skip the rest.. You will have some extra features.. IF you are using it as a work system... for basics.. Stay security conscious.. but go minimal.. and yes choose a version in 32 or 64 which is going to be the best performer but with what you have at the time and in considering the availability for applications in that format as well which you use..All relative to time, money, efficiency... and other factors or variables..
