Olexijl
Hello,in our "Drivers" section is DirectX already included. I wanna see there .NET Framework too.Link: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 offline redistributableLink: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Webinstaller
toyo
Isn't this installed by Windows 7 as an important/recommended update anyway? DirectX is different, you have to manually install Dx9 or the games relying on it won't work. Not 100% I'm correct, but this is how I remember it. Olexijl
Yes, on Win7 is v3.0 installed. You have to upgrade to v4.0, which is not shipped with Win7.Some special programs need v4.0 upgrade.
LeetPirate
Yes you are correct. .NET Framework is included with Windows now and it is mandatory to have it so there is no option to not get it while installing Windows. Any updates for it come directly through Windows/Microsoft Update.DirectX9 is slowly becoming obsolete, Windows7 comes with DX10 and the basic parts of DX9 for most common hardware. All games come with their required DX9/10/11 components so there is actually no need to manually install any version of DirectX except for really old games. In the coming months we may need to re-evaluate the usefulness of DX9 in our listings and perhaps retire it by the end of this year depending on the download stats. I could be wrong but i was able to download the new update of DirectX 9 a few times because it was listed here.About .NET Framework, it is included by Windows now, that's correct, but not in the current version. As developer and admin i wanna download distributable of this current package more than getting update via "Microsoft Update". That's the reason i wanna see it in the drivers section too, to be able getting the right distro not searching for it on microsoft website every time.thx
LeetPirate
The last update for .NET Framework 4.0 was 21st Feb 2011. What latest version are you talking about? .NET Framework 4.0 comes with Visual Studio 2010 so developers get the latest version. All the patch updates come through Windows Updates, even if you download that full package from your link it won't be the latest version, just the latest full release. You will still need to update it via Windows Updates.

If microsoft releases v5 i wanna know and be able to download the disitributable (which still need to be updated via "Microsoft Update"). If microsoft updates the disitributable for v4 i should be able to download it as well.Sometimes it is useful to store a distributable somewhere on your disk, so you'll be able to install it without download it via Webinstaller. But i do not want to debate with you about this. That was a suggestion only.
LeetPirate
Nothing is wrong with a debate. We are just discussing about it. :) All the staff will still consider it but it helps when you have a very convincing argument as well. ;)
Olexijl
My only argument is still easy to understand: i do not want to bloat my system with any major software like Visual Studio only because it ship .NET Framework as well. Instead i download the distributable and may have the right to choose (and if needed i still have the option to install Visual Studio). Why distributable and not webinstaller? I prefer not to be connected to the net while installing and i should be able to install such a thing without internet access anyway.About latest patches to .NET Framework, i agree, i still need to get them via "Microsoft Update" but i wanna have the latest full release.Watching for v5 of it.:smoke:
LeetPirate
It's being discussed within the staff. Sometimes it takes us a while to get to a decision though but we'll see how it goes.
