did you restart after uninstall the driver?

i prefer to uninstall using the driver uninstaller 1st then check whether there were any device driver left like audio controller etc

restart then reinstall audio driver back

try run dxdiag

see if it detect any conflict

Microsoft troubleshooter

system restore?

repair install?

just list anything that come into my mind

Did you unplug your earphones... and are the services related to Sound in 7 on and running.. Endpoint an another one.. too tired to look right now but there are two of them to look for.. Those have to be good and usually speakers will not work with headphones plugged-in... ALSO depending on the routing of your audio card, settings through the Control Panel may need to be looked at..

I had a similar problem, when I updated my drivers.I tried everything, in the end I had to reload my os and this solved the problem.Does your pc have a factory restore option?Sorry this wouldn't be the exact answer you would wanna hear. But im sure this would solve the problem.
