shought
<img src="http://www.nsanedown.com/images/logos/News.png" class="logo" alt="News" />Even though this latest update brings only a few changes we feel that there have been significant improvements from v2.1, so here it is: v2.2.Enough talk about the version number for now, here are the changes:<ul><li>A new 'share system' (powered by <a href="http://www.addthis.com/">AddThis</a>) which allows you to share all our updates and downloads on your favorite networks.</li><li>A Google +1 button next to the other connectivity buttons (RSS, Twitter and Facebook).</li><li>An alternative, quick and fast way to view the latest updates on our 'collapsed' index.</ul>As always we hope you'll enjoy the latest updates and we would love for you to let us know if you do, but if there's something you don't like then please don't hesitate to share your thoughts on the matter either! If you notice anything out of the ordinary, please make sure to refresh your cache (or just refresh the page) before you report it here. shought
Some technical details:- The collapsed index is very light on bandwidth because the logos post-load; they only load when you hover the expand button thus saving us as well as you a large amount of bandwidth.- We went with AddThis because it has a large CDN, is very lightweight and allows us to include a lot of services with just a small increase in page size. I'll think about something to update the filename of the ImageSprite as well in every release (as this would solve the caching issues).

shought
@anuraagThanks for pointing this out to me, I've made some modifications in the way we release an update to the frontpage and now a cache refresh should no longer be necessary (in very rare situations it might still be required, when we change some of the background images for instance). To make sure nobody has to refresh his/her cache on this update I've released v2.2.1 (the version number in the filenames of the CSS, JS and ImageSprite causes the browser to automatically reload these resources, even if they were already in your cache).:)

Olexijl
As for me, i don't like the idea sharing something of our frontpage entries on facebook, google etc. Not every trend should be made available.Perhaps i am too odd to think of it, not everything has to be shared on social networks. Thats my opinion.

Thats my opinion. We've always had share buttons, this is just a different implementation ;)Besides you don't have to share the stuff on our frontpage, you can :)Social networks are a great way to promote our content and we would be fools if we didn't make use of it, I think. But as I mentioned earlier, we also appreciate negative feedback (as long as it's still constructive, which this is). Thanks for letting us know what you think about this.
toyo
In an ideal world, we probably would not use the share buttons... I heavily dislike social services and everything that has to do with them... :(
Olexijl
Well, promotion is something difficult to handle. How much promotion do you want? How much is really necessary?I am afraid, i cannot agree. Some history: There was a community long ago, 9down.com namely, i was a member of. gag was a member too. Marik, Peace_Angel too. But this got so much popular through "promotion" that now you'll be fool if you put a nose there at current time: bloated and full of viruses. People posted there everything but no working virusfree solutions. So if you are going to promote, take care about the right dosis of pile, otherwise nsane will go the same way.
