Nima
Hello,I have a complaint from staff and who updates the front page.In the forum "Frontpage Software Updates" there is a note "This forum should only be used to post updates for the frontpage.", but my complaint is that staff's do not check all updates while there is no many topics in it, I have created and posted many topic but no one replied to it, if my topic is not important and staff do not like to frontpage they can easily post a reply and lock the topic, it's insult and offense to me when I see they reply to other people but not me.(There is also many topics unviewed and unreplied and unchecked by staff/admin to be frontpaged by other members, too). Here is the topics I posted but no one replied to it:(Sorted by post date)K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 7.5.8 BetaLibreOffice 3.4.2 RC3K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 7.4.2 Beta / 4.9.2 (x64) BetaMozilla Thunderbird 5.0 Beta 2MediaMonkey 4.0.0.1394 BetaMozilla Thunderbird 5.0 Beta 1Babylon Pro 9.0.2 (r2)The Bat! 5.0.0.147 BetaFraps 3.2.9Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 11.0.2.537 CF2 BetaTo see complete list of topics without reply and still open, go here.I need an answer for this problem otherwise I will not help Frontpage updates any more. Thanks,Nima
toyo
- beta codecs, anti-malware and a few other apps (like LIBRE Office or The Bat) will not be frontpaged. Babylon was posted in a period we had a problem with the frontpage;- FRAPS needs a retail setup to be frontpaged;- as for Thunderbird, maybe we need a consensus inside the staff. I personally frontpage it when I see it, but that doesn't mean my opinion is shared with everybody. You should reconsider the insult part...Minor point: staff has responsibilities, but they're also volunteers that cannot be pushed to do something... we do this out of pleasure. If it becomes a chore and the pleasure is gone, we lose a staff member. Trust me, this is much more crucial than a potential lost beta update. You will also get an admin opinion soon probably, since you requested it... Guest Guest
I think personally one shouldn't get insulted by such stuff as most of it is unintentional & its not like the staff/mods here don't pay attention to you but at times you might feel neglected & I've seen dcs18 get hyper over this to bid his adieu to nsaneforums but hope you don't do the same
Nima
Right toyo, you are right; but I say it would much more better if you said all of them in their topics that time. :)Replying to the topics and informing users about these issues (like not frontpaging the beta codecs) not only cause lesser topics but also makes users and members to know that they are important, they pay attention to forum and members. And thanks for your reply and sorry if my words was rude, I was a bit angry ;).Thanks,Nima
RileyReefer
I too have had a few concerns but it really dont bother me if occassionally someone is rude or a post gets neglected. Life goes on and there IS a wealth of warez on Nsane.down so that I tollerate it. The main thing that happened to me is that I made a post, it was a proper post following all the rules and it was deleted. I PMed an admin (forget who) and asked them about it but did not receive a response back. I figured...oh well...at least I have the program. Dont be so thinned skinned and go smoke some reefer :lol:one thing tho...if someone posts a movie how does anyone even know its been posted unless you make a "topic" telling them. Then that gets deleted because of redundancy...but still no-one knows there is a new movie posted.....but like I said this is still an awsome place to be a part of. thanx
Administrator DKT27 Posted August 4, 2011 Administrator Share Posted August 4, 2011 What toyo said ^^. I personally think we have mentioned it many times before and in many cases we feel the member already knows about it. We don't ignore any posts. :)Staff at nsane.forums is quite generous. If you feel you wanna know something about your posts, etc. PM us, we'll be happy to help and solve any queries. At times, Admins may be busy and unable to answer. And last, we don't delete topics without closing them. Closed topics are there for few hours before they are removed. As for the rest, we also merge them or move them. A note is also left when done so. Make sure you search. We are always there to help. If there's anything wrong, don't take it personally. :)
jalaffa
Also - we do evaluation of what is worth frontpaging. I just did a Spybot Search & Destroy 2.0.5 Beta 3. We could get better at feedback I guess.

I only read your PM yesterday (you can check when PMs are read if you read them and look at the place where the other member who is in the conversation with you is mentioned) because I've been on a holiday for a week. (I had some trouble locating the topic yesterday evening (as I had only just returned) and I've been away all day, but I've briefly looked into it now).I believe your topic has been moved to the trash in error and I will contact the staff member who moved it there, I'll let you know as soon as I know something ;)@NimaThere's room for improvement everywhere. We have been going through some rough patches with staff members leaving, joining and re-joining (not to mention the fact that our main admin is taking a trip around the world (<-- should remind you of daft punk, if not slam head against wall and repeat) and this has caused some strain on the staff members (do remember they spend their free time, effort and all the knowledge they have on this site). They also have to make hard decisions which are not well-received by all members. This is a hard job and I believe our staff is doing great, but, as I said, there's always room for improvement. It's a good thing you point this out to us; it keeps us on our toes and also makes us understand why we should be supporting and happy towards our members :)I used to check the Frontpage Software Updates on regular intervals to make sure that all topics were closed, but I've been busy and some of my 'less important' obligations faded away.We are generally very lenient but I do not think this should have been posted in public. At other forums you might have seen a similar topic deleted and left without a reply. (It might have been better to PM this to an admin.)Because of this lenient structure we also create an environment where members are left with much responsibility, sometimes this causes issues as well but we feel it is better to point some members on their own responsibility at times than to regulate too much.Do not take my reply as a comment on the content of your topic (I agree that all topics should be answered and members should always get feedback from the staff), but as there are better ways for us to handle things there was a better way for you to handle this (you acknowledged this already by saying you were a little angry, so this is all fine ;)).We take all member feedback seriously and we appreciate it a lot (which is demonstrated in our threads about how to improve the frontpage/forums and the one about reviewing our site/forum), so please keep it coming (but, as you already did, never make it personal, always keep feedback general :)).Ok, I think I've written enough for now (with my finger which has still not quite recovered from me cutting it earlier :P (I had to re-type every sentence at least twice because of type errors )), please do reply if you have more concerns ;)

Nima
@ shought:Thank you so much for your reply, I'm convinced and understand the situation, and sorry for posting in public, it was for this that I could not find a private place (except PM) and the thing you mentioned, I have not seen any deleted topic without answer or some things like that (beacuse I'm too lazy to check all forums? :P) and I thought first that I'm doing right, and in the end, please lock the topic, or move it to the archives or delete if you think it might cause any thing.Thank you again for your concern about members and forums and your time and efforts on forum (So long? :D),Nima

But i never asked and i do not have many friends from staff members group. So what should i do?
shought
If you have applications in mind for the frontpage you can suggest it in the Site / Forum Wishlist, create a new topic in the Site / Forum Feedback or send a PM to any staff member (none of them bite, except for Lite :P).Your request will then be forwarded to the staff forum and we will discuss the application. Most of the time we wait until we have a couple of applications to list them (so it might take some time before you see it).
OhMyGod
In my opinion, I don't see a reason for Beta releases to be posted on the Front Page. Why would members want to move from a stable software to a beta which is unstable most of the time? The main point of the Front Page is to announce new software updates, Beta releases are not updates since they are not usually stable.I always ignore Beta releases. Thanks. :D

I mean aShampoo burner, 8 was good, 9 was good, but 10 is not "reliable" for many systems- on one of the Vista PCs- didn't install for no lofe or money. I had to get it from somwhere else, but old recomendation thingy is good and if there is such instances- would be handy to leave old(with proper fixes)- reliable release listings perhaps?I am kinda retiring from all that stuff, but whenever I need something I go straight to FP and its nice to have everything in good order in one place.
