toyo
Skype is a little piece of software that lets you make free calls to anyone else on Skype, anywhere in the world. And even though the calls are free, they are really excellent quality. If you and your friends, family or business contacts are using webcams, you can also make free video calls. You can even call landlines and mobile phones at really cheap per minute rates (and there's no setup or subscription fee). Thanks to thylacine for the update.Download

rseiler
what is the difference between the msi package from the exe package? From a previous Skype blog post:"Skype for Windows 5.5 is available as two different downloads. The generic version (EXE) with all the features and then the MSI version, which is intended mainly for managed locations. The MSI version has Facebook integration and Click to Call features disabled."One downside of the MSI version: the next time you upgrade Skype, you're forced to uninstall the last version first. You don't lose your configuration, but it's still annoying and unnecessary.

rseiler
If anyone is being driven batty with Skype's compact view now that v5.5 unnecessarily opens the Home window upon startup (bug or feature?), some workarounds have been developed. I recommend using a handy tool called ClickOff (Google it), but there's also a non-resident method. The post also details how to fix what's definitely a bug: the broken /minimized switch.http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows/I-want-Skype-minimized-on-startup/m-p/46984#M5135Since that thread's locked, if you want to voice your opinion on the Home "feature" and one particular uber-lord's insistence that any workarounds for the issue are in violation of Skype's TOS, please join the debate here. As you can see, I strenuously disagree with His Holiness.http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows/Disabling-Skype-Home-autostart/td-p/46260
