Linux + WIndows 7 x64...

Recommended Posts

Recently, I've decided to change my Windows from 7 x86 to x64 (clean install) because I've bought 4GB RAM...

I know there is a patch for 7 x86 which allow to fully use more than 4GB RAM, but unfortunately i've tried it on my 7 x86 and it didn't work (damn Intel Graphics for that...)

But then problems came... Windows 7 x64 demands all drivers have to be digitally signed... my CDMA modem ZTE 2726 is refused to work just because its drivers is not digitally signed...

Then I managed to read some possible solutions for this problem, from adding some boot option using bcdedit to install "fake" digital sign to the driver, but all of them don't work...

I found a "looks good" solution, a program called Ready Driver plus -- well at least this one was working... until I decided to install Linux (Backtrack 5 x64 actually) along with my Windows 7 x64...

It seems the Ready Driver plus messed up with the GRUB, I've searched on internet and the conclusion was do not use Ready Driver Plus along with GRUB...

Does anyone on here ever comes up with the same problem as I have? How do you overcome the non-digitally signed driver on your Windows 7 x64?

If your Windows 7 x64 is running along with Linux, how do you managed to do that?

Please share your experiences if you have some... I will really appreciate that...

Any chance new, Win7x64 compatible drivers are available from the manufacturer? If not, ask them to provide a fix.

Agreed. That's the only thing that can be done.

Don't fall for the x86 being able to run 4GB. That's fake. It's just for showing that it's using 4GB.

You can enable the test mode and also use the test mode watermark removal but that(test mode) will make your system as vulnerable as x86. One reason why x64 has upper hand in security.

Not sure about Ready Driver Plus thingy.
