From Softpedia Blog, Google announced the availability of New Google Maps 5.8 application for handsets running under Android operating system, with a great variety of improvements brought to the Places and Latitude. Google Maps 5.8 for Android comes with a new feature to upload photos to a place, or to access the My Places, and also offers a descriptive term for the place in search results. A new feature of Google Maps 5.8 enables users to upload photos to the places they visited

My Places features for the mobile itself offers quick access to starred and last place. To access My Places, users will simply have to press the menu button of the phone when in Google Maps.

Another new feature in Google Maps 5.8 is the option to add a new place while traveling as long as one is available to check into. The “Add a place” option will emerge at the bottom of suggested places.

Other changes that occur in the Google Maps 5.8 includes the option of ‘Bigger text’ added to the experimental Labs features, in addition to having the option ‘ Download map of area ‘ was renamed ‘ Pre -cache map area. ”
