ESET NOD32 v2.70.39.0 + NOD32 FiX v2.2 by nsane

Hi everyone, I need your help.

I have a problem with NOD32 FiX v2.2 for NOD32 AntiVirus v2.70.39.0.

I install the fix the standard way, and it ads nod_eval servers to the registry.

After I reboot three more registry keys (big-number ones) are added to Scheduler.

But when go to NOD32 Control Center and click on Update now,

it cycles through servers for a few minutes after which it reverts custom servers to this:

And of course, asks me for a password when trying to update.

Does anyone of you knows why is this happening and how to fix it?

It's been a long time since I used NOD32v2 and this fix, did something changed in the mean time maybe,

or this fix was never compatible with Win9x systems in the first place.

Any kind of help is appreciated.

Sorry I can't help you, but I gotta ask; you're still using Windows 9X? o.O^

I have an old PC bought back in 1993.

CPU 133 MHZ

RAM 16 MB

HDD 6 + 2 GB

GPU 2 MB

Lags with anything newer then Win95.

It's a very old computer for nowadays... Have you ever considered to buy a new one?

Btw, I also have this old NOD32 installed in my VirtualBox, recently (few weeks ago), it was unable to update its definition, I don't know why, but I guess ESET has already closed the update support for NOD32 v2...

Well, have you tried Linux? Perhaps Damn Small Linux or an older version of Slackware?

Haha, dude, this was (and still is) my first PC that had graphical operating system. I changed many PCs after this one.

I currently have Laptop and Desktop PC, both one year old, and both having Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.04 in dual boot.

Btw, I also have this old NOD32 installed in my VirtualBox, recently (few weeks ago), it was unable to update its definition,

I don't know why, but I guess ESET has already closed the update support for NOD32 v2...

Now this is interesting...

Since I used this version on Windows XP multiple times without problems,

I though that Win95 was the reason why the fix didn't worked.

But if ESET closed the update support for NOD32v2,

and if it doesn't even work on XP any more, that would explain everything.

I have to test this on Windows XP...

Well, have you tried Linux? Perhaps Damn Small Linux or an older version of Slackware?

I tried running DSL and SliTaz as LiveCD, but this 16 MB of RAM just wasn't enough.

I had in mind installing one of them, but ended up with installing Win95.

Indeed, nsane's fix that adds nod_eval servers works no more,

not only on Win95, but not even on WinXP.

The reason is because on February 1st, 2010 ESET stopped selling NOD32 v2.7,

and therefore turned off their trial servers.

Virus Signature Database updates will be discontinued on February 1st, 2012,

so their update servers for paid customers are still online.

Since this fix used trial servers for updates, it hasn't been working for the last

year and a half, only I haven't realized that untill now.

I found the answer to my problem,

and as for me, this topic can be locked if needed.

Kind regards,

eqagunn
