Hi

I got this error at the first days of releasing MS Office 2010 by intstalling a pre-activated version and uninstalling it after a week with some errors!

then I kept using Office 2007 to now...

I'm sick of this error which happens at the last moments of finalizing installation of Office 2010;

I've searched between the Google resultes and none of them worked for me:

including installing in Safe-Mode;

uninstalling Office 2007 >>reboot >> clean intsallation of Office 2010;

Any help is appreciated;

If you think you know the solution we can have TeamViewer connection

:(

It would be better if we know what exactly you have tested as solutions

found on GOOGLE.

Try cleaning the Msocache (delete it if you find it), update the Windows Installer,

clean the registry, clean TEMP files, deactivate firewall + antivirus before install

Office after restart (also realtime protection and background protection).

Good luck. :lol:

I did the steps you guys said and the only result was removing the error code;

I still have this message:

"Microsoft Office 2010 encountered an error during setup"

I am not sure if it gives a preactivated version of Office 2010 for now. Normally you can

only activate it for a period of 180 days as remaining grace, after that period you get the

really last 20 days to renew the KMS activation for the next 180 days. I have not heard

about any permanently activated version since now. I would suggest you to redownload

a retail edition e.g. from here and activate it with Mini-KMS Activator.

Also do you use an administrator account when you install Office? Also which OS do

you have installed where you want to install Office? Error 1712 occurs when the comp

is trying to restore some files and it fails during the restoration procedure. It is clear

that the office installation was not completed and so the comp was trying to restore it

back as it was initially. This may occur if the installation file is corrupted or does not

completed the installation procedure successfully. Or you are trying to run the same

installation process more than once at the same time.

Clean Boot

1. Log on to the computer by using an administrator account.

2. Click Start button, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER

to start the System Configuration Utility. If you are prompted for an administrator

password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

3. On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the Load startup

items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)

4. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then

click Disable all.

5. Click OK, and then click Restart.
