It combines extensive functionality with an intuitive interface. Winamp features a playlist editor and a 10-band graphic equalizer with user-definable presets that can automatically load specific files. It also includes Windows Media Technology 4.0 input/output support and the industry-standard Fraunhofer MP3 decoder. This download no longer includes VIS/DSP plug-ins; you can download them separately.

Actually, Winamp search was replaced through AOL search.

It would be the great release, if some points would not be changed.

- * Misc: Redesigned SHOUTcast Radio online service view (new school & classic options)

- * Misc: Replaced searchwebsite through AOL search.

Well, Winamp is since years with AOL, however now it is completely AOL Player.

I dunno why but right from the last version, any file extension that I put in DirectShow thingy (and remove from the other one) stops working. I used to enjoy audio files in Winamp with ffdshow by adding mp3s in directshow decoder, but now it simply doesn't play anything. :(

Sure. :)

I go into preference > Input > MPEG Audio Decoder > Configure > remove MP3 and then go to Directshow Decoder > Configure and add MP3 in there.

Now what used to happen in previous to previous version is that this trick made the MP3s play with ffdshow. But somehow right from the previous version, dunno if they have updated their Directshow decoder or not, I open the MP3, popup appears (playing, etc), but no matter what, it doesn't play it, even the playing slider doesn't move.

Same is with any file extensions that you move to Directshow Decoder.....

Well the last install.. not the latest update which has come since this one.. when it was installing, did download some version of wadirectx.. from online and install.. so it could have something to do with it n some way.. not for sure.. Could look at the latest release 3161 and see if its been updated or see if its in the bug reports at the site..

Doubt that I'll find anything. Looked into it a little and seems hopeless. Really haven't used Winamp enough to understand matters deep...

Know any media player that has visualization and ffdshow support?

Windows Media Player? :P Zune.. I dunno.. as far as having the exact visualizations I am not for sure...I do know that you will find nothing else to run the same ones or files as the AVS Visualization Studio.. as of yet... Is it the sound you get from the codecs used or what?

Have you checked the compatibility of your chosen output plugin? .. and when making that change did you check your profile specific INI file to make sure it was kept ( by checking before and after then comparing ) ? Sometimes other areas incompatibilities can be responsible... If it worked before then it would seem something somewhere has changed in the way that something was setup.. either with your K-Lite Pack or Winamp..

Personally I always have chose to use the built-in setup for the decoding.. I think I used this method years back but configurations change as well..

I am using WMP, but the only way to use ffdshow in it is to disable system's mp3 DMO. And if you disable mp3 dmo, there's no visualization. Doesn't matter with Winamp though.

I think I've done everything I could have myself. Is there any way to debug Winamp? :P

It's quality and customization. Only ffdshow can offer that.

Well after looking over the settings, it would appear that DirectShow is reserved for Videos. Going from the selection they have in Winamp... I would search their forums for an answer.. It would seem simple enough....

EDIT: Try the settings in the DirectShow Codec Tweak Tool.. there are programs in a list of things not to use it in and many settings in which you may be able to allow it to be used..

Already did that. Couldn't find anything related to Winamp / Nirsoft.

I think even mp4s, when added to Directshow, doesn't work. Will have to recheck it...

What about checking 'use only in' should have Winamp included .. you can click edit and add it... if not AND its Nullsoft.. not Nir.. :P

Already checked. Well, I think they had updated the Directshow Decoder, hence this happened. But didn't find any mention of it in the changelog. ANW, I guess I'll have to forget Winamp. I've tried everything but it's not getting fixed.

EDIT:

Got it working. :dance2:  :D

Well, normally, when you disable MP3 DMO via Windows 7 DS Tweaker, it tells you it will cause playback problems. It order to avoid that problems you have to open FFDSHOW > Output and change "Connect to" to Directsound. I returned it back to Any Filter and that fixed it. Odd though I thought I did try that before. None the less. ffdshow works in Winamp now. Thanks for taking time and looking into it. :)

Time to install the nsane visualization again. ^_^
