robalm
I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2012, and is quite happy. However, the one thing that bothers me terribly. Look at the picture, it was taken while I'll open a program, kaspersky eats up about 13% of CPU power in the region of 15-20sek, then the program opens. Is there a setting that eliminates the need to wait so long for that Kaspersky should call into the program is safe? (hope it dose, if not I will have to uninstall Kaspersky, for it bothering me terrible)

It was around 30,000 K in Kaspersky 2011. Windows 7 Ultimate x64
toyo
Nah, I recognise this problem, it happened to me too in the previous versions a few times. A clean install would give you a chance on solving it. So uninstall KIS, clean with KAVRemover, and install again.

I have done a clean install of windows and then installed KIS, well well it was the same thing with KIS 2010-2011 version, that they eat up cpu power when you open a file / program (although it has improved in 2012, it is not good enough)
toyo
What CPU do you have? Maybe I could help, if you replace that Task manager for a while with ProceXP.Also what apps create this issue? Any chance you have some big Adobe apps like Premiere for further testing?

Any chance you have some big Adobe apps like Premiere for further testing? I have a i7 860 cpu. All keygens, some games and alot of new program i install. Edit: I installed Kaspersky 2011 (kis) on my sister's laptop (single core CPU) as soon as you would open any unknown program used Kaspersky 100% cpu power for 10-15 seconds, so I suppose it is so for all.But not everyone is as picky as me, maybe. I hate to wait :D

toyo
So this behaviour occurs only on new applications? This is supposed to happen (once) if the program is not signed so it's necessary to determine in what group it will be placed..

robalm
[bashar] thank you :) [toyo] yes it is true. For example i just installed a new Nvidia driver, and when i press on the istallation KIS 2012 used 13% cpu power for about 20sek. Edit: you say "if the program is not signed so it's necessary to determine in what group it will be placed" I understand this, but all other security product I've tested it only takes a few seconds, it's just Kaspersky I have experienced this annoying thing. toyo
Don't worry then; this happens only on new, not yet classified applications. Other than that, the KSN cloud is used and should provide a speedy classification without the need for heuristics kicking in (which causes the CPU overhead, I suppose).PS: It's been very long now since I used other security programs... but Kaspersky needs to do this for a number of reasons that would take me a full screen to explain. It's all for your increased security. I can tell you that the new application is not only compared to the databases, but it's also analysed for behavioural patterns and you can find more info about this on their forums, especially on the Beta forums, where the discussion tends to be more "elevated" :P

akf
Last seen in KIS 2010, users have the ability to choose which components of KIS to be installed. For example, the user can choose not to install Anti-Spam and Anti-Banner.For KIS 2012, we cannot choose which components of KIS to be installed, and thus are forced to install all components, right?
