If it is already updating without manually selecting to update then thats good. People need to learn that latest buildz are faster and helping to test them and give proper feedback helps software to involve instead of getting worse. There are extensions to make it look entirely like chrome if you search long enough.

My FF 4.0.1 is not autoupdating

Of course is not updating from Final 4.0.1 to a beta version. That affirmation was a joke by someone that likes to play with you...

Remember , more 11 days and final will be released...so I dont know if it is a good idea to download this beta, unless you do it to a especial OS backup. Also, do not forget to keep your Favorites links separately...

I had FF v4.01 also, and this morning, it is FF v5.0 Beta 5. I've never installed, let alone DLed any of FF's Betas. Been using FF since it's inception.

EDIT

Just found out that one of my grandkids did it (here visiting Granddad). That would have been a first for FF to update itself to a Beta for me. Had me worried.

How does one know the beta build number and whether it has automatically updated,as the About box says only firefox 5.

There's no mention of the beta build no..

Good to know. :)

Well, but bashar, who had the same problem above, isn't that old to have grandkids, or is he? :sneaky:

Anw, I haven't tested it but found some notes that they have removed the channel switcher from final (beta and stable) releases.
