Win7nerd
i now they are false positives but check into it if needed: :sneaky:http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=http:%2F%2Fwww.nsanedown.com%2F
shought
We can't really contact Norton and ask them to remove those :P
toyo
Why not? They are false positives. I guess they could be contacted by anyone to tell them that patch or whatever is not malware (I did that with Kaspersky a few times by sending false positives to [email protected], and they fixed it !!!). Once removed off their databases, the nsane site should be on the clear.A Google search found this: How to report false positives (Norton) Now responsibility lies on your shoulders :PPS: It could be a great idea to use a new email for Symantec forum registration. Also use TOR for the whole operation (including the creation/access of this new email).
myidisbb
norton really doesnt want anyone visiting the front page that is why
grouchysmurf
Just a personal opinion, please do not shoot me,I like Norton Ghost, it is a great image recovery tool.I do not use ANY of the Norton, nor McAffee anti-virus nodules.Let me correct that, in fairness to the Norton product, it is Symantecthat I do not use.The reason is simple. They are both system cows. Like I said, just my opinion but the front page, and spots in the forum, list several other AV packagesthat are much better on the system, offer great protection, and have much fewer incidentsof false positives, (although I would tend to agree that the Norton flag has been put there on purpose).I would rather suggest someone uninstall the internet security nodules that try to fix them.I hope I just did not put myself outside the pail.
Administrator DKT27 Posted May 30, 2011 Administrator Share Posted May 30, 2011 Doubt that Symantec will do it purposely, we have nothing Norton or Symantec related on FP. But, someone may have reported the file and Norton would have marked it...
toyo
I doubt anyone reported the files; both are "generic" heuristic detections. I totally agree that this is completely unintentional... that's another reason Norton will probably even thank you for helping them with their detection engine if you report the false positives.
