cruelsister
After using SUPERAntiSpyware for quite a few years I finally came to the realization that all things being considered, this was pretty much a useless application. Considering what it actually is and is not- it's not an AV so it shouldn't be used as a primary anti-malware app; it isn't any sort of a behavior blocker/HIPS so it shouldn't be used as that. But it is targeted to prevent zero-day malware, so you would think that it is reasonably effective for these. Well as it turns out that latter is not the case. Some of you may be familiar with the Malware Research Group. These folks have been running what they call "Flash Tests". A Flash test is just their acquiring a true Zero-day piece of malware that has been showing up in the wild (eg Zeus Banker, Buzus, FakeAlert. etc) and running it vs various security programs. You can see cumulative results from these tests here: MRG 2011 Cumulative ResultsKeeping these results in mind, consider that MalwareBytes and SAS are targeting the same "audience" (and at no time did SAS detect malware that MB missed). Can anyone make any argument as to why SAS should be used? It surely seems to me that SuperAntiSpyware is no longer super and may just be taking up HD space. To see the individual tests that made up the Cumulative Results please check out the main MRG page at Malware Research Group

freeforever03
Thanks for the insight cruelsister. I hope that the next version (version 5.0) is an improvement over this one.

They behave differently. You can use them both together and add a new layer of protection since they have differently databases after all. And even if Malwarebytes were better at Oday threats as these guys seem to have discovered, I can see no mention to the great number of false positives Malwarebytes has with regard to patches and keygens..... Besides, I found it quite strange that Malwarebytes were ranking better than most antivirus on Earth according to them of course. I'd like to see how Malwarebytes ranks in AV Comparatives or other neutral testing sites!
