Making Ringtones

Chris`

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out how to create a ringtone for my phone. Or just point me to a site that explains it. I am sick of paying almost $5 for each one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA guys.

Don't pay, lol. Please detail what tone you want to make, what phone, post the song, everything related. Just make sure you write it in detail :P

wtf you pay $5 for a ringtone? just use Nero wave editor, cut out the part of the mp3 you want to use, apply signal fade at the end for the volume to die off slowly and export the file to a format your phone supports. Most phones work with mp3.

Another option is if you have Google Chrome you can use the addon Click&Clean that has a music producer so you can produce your own tune by yourself and then save it

Edit:Sorry you don`t have to install any addon site is:http://inudge.net/

seriously this is funny ,

you pay for ringtones ...! :o

dude , get Audacity ( front paged )

pop in the track you want a ring tone from ,

let it play ,

cut out the section you want to set as ringtone,

export as mp3 or wave or ogg or ac4 ,

done .!

you can also set fade in and fade out to set smooth transition ,

amplify it if its weak ,

and tons of other tools you can use in it to make it funky and distort ..

one more way i like pimping the paid sites ,,if i find some thing interesting on them .. ( i remember , there was one site that offered Donald Duck , Mickey Mouse , etc funny msg ring tones for $5 .. a 200 kb file for $5 .. thats stupid when you can get a full song for $ .99 ..),,

use IDM and capture download the previews . ;)

its worked many times for me ....

That's fine and great, but it doesn't explain how to get them on my phome, I've tried emailing them to myself but that didn't work. I've tried copying them to my SD card and that didn't work.

Tried searching google and the above two mentioned ways don't work.

You have bluetooth or a USB like port on your phone right? Most phones should play mp3s fine. Make sure you save files in mp3, 44100 sample rate and bit rate, lets say 128kbps to 192kbps would also be fine.

Also, you'll need to download a file in order to save files in mp3 in Audacity, not a big deal, just download and install it. :)

Audacity is fine. Make sure you "cut" the file where needed, and don't use huge portions of the song, 10-30 secs should do it. The audio files supported are "MP3, AAC/AC+, WMA9" but Samsung ads an "etc.", so there could be others, too.

Also, it seems to be a problem with mp3 with Intensity:

1. Send to yourself as text message with MP3 file as attachment.

2. Use files with mid extension.

3. Use files with amr extension. (a free converter can be found by doing a search for amr to mp3 conversion)

After conversion (to mid or amr) the files can be copied to the my_ringtones sub directory of the internal disk, then moved to the phone as ringtone.

So far I haven't found a free way to use MP3 files (but I'm not giving up)

Let us know if you manage to do it or not, we'll get to it ;)

majithia23

so Intensity doesnt support mp3 in real terms ...

just saw the specs , where it says it does ...

either way ,

just tell a song and what part of it would you like to cut out ...

we can try converting it into any of the many formats and see if it works ....

or if you can and want to ,

just clip it in Audacity and try the file conversion options with this online convertor tool --- Zamzar

and see what works ...
