hello,

i was browsing through the forum index ,

when it came to me ,

why dont we Categorize the members .> ?

i mean , we already do that ,

but reforming the existing classification a bit .

like what we got is --

>so at first you are being validated .

after validation , you are entitled to be a Member .

(then a minor upgrade to Senior Member , not sure after how many posts ...)

>750 posts later , you are promoted to the VIP status .

as a gesture of thank you and a token of appreciation for the contributions made by the member towards the forum .

( quite a lot of posts later ..... ! )

and that is it , for most of the majority of the members !

exceptions

--- if you are a coder then straightway VIP .

---- you are Donator .

---- know a Staff Member personally , then VIP .

---- If a heavy contributor like DKT , then Site Staff .

---- exceptional contributor , then may be a VIP too .

:P

so , to sum up ,

for most of the members ---

its Either A Member

or after 750 posts

a VIP .

Game Over ..!

i mean we got members sitting at way too much posts than 750 , ( 1000 , 2000, 3000, 5000 etc .... ),

they deserve the Credit for the Time and Effort devoted by them towards posting and maintaining the forums ..!

and especially the Loyalty towards the forums for so long should be rewarded ..!

again say as a Token of appreciation , some Recognition . !

some different tag ---

like say

-- an Expert !

--- a Master !

--- a Veteran !

( and the like ... )

and then again ,

for the new members ,

wouldnt be bad if we can give them some thing too ,

like say ,

beginning - Member

100 posts later -- Newbie / Rookie .

250 posts later -- Frequent Poster .

500 posts later -- Fast Learner .

etc, etc . .....

it would feel good ...

a promotion or small instances of appreciation ,on a job or at school undoubtedly brings smiles, keeps you motivated and keeps you working at your best .. ...! :P :)

nothing bad or cons regarding groupism ,

but it would seem nice ,

to see your progress .

and reflect that in your member profile ... !

:)

what say .......

I could see something like this work ;)

BTW: if you know a staff member you don't become ViP immediately... Also if you're a coder you don't become ViP immediately.

You become a ViP for the contributions you have made. Because we just started the Coders Corner a couple of Coders became ViP in order to 'promote it' and make it attractive. :)

We already have 'Member Ranks':

New Member 0

Member 25

Advanced Member 100

Senior Member 250

ViP Member 750

These appear as your 'member title' when you reach this many post, so I think up till 750 posts we've got it covered.

After 750 posts however I am in favor of your idea; having more ranks.

I'll go ahead and suggest that we pick two new titles at 2000 and 5000 posts. I'm fine with creating new member groups for these numbers. All we have to decide on are the titles.

Veteran for 5000 seems ok to me. But what should we name 2000?

k, was JK ...

i know that , thats why i mentioned " exceptional contributor ! " ;)

ohh...

dint know that / never bothered to see.

i see,, its fine then for the starters , :)

just one mention ,

aint the existing climb of 500 posts from Level 250 to Level 750 in the initial stages , lil steep atm.. :P

After 750 posts however I am in favor of your idea; having more ranks.

thanks for considering the idea ... :)

but .again IMO ,

aint the climb steep again .! ?

sorry if m being naive ,

but if i may suggest ---

at 250 posts = Senior Member

at 500 posts = Certified Member / Experienced Member / Chief Member / Executive Member / VIP Member

at 900 posts = Existing Title of VIP Member or,,,, V-VIP Member , if 500 is decided a VIP

at 1550 or 1700 posts = Nsane Guru

at 2500 or 3000 posts = Nsane Veteran

at 4000 or 5000 posts -= as Biz puts it , Nsane Elite

at 10,000 posts = Nsane Immortal :P

what say ....

( ps -- and in this way we can see , the number of posts required to reach a title are steadily , constantly , increasing with a reasonable spacing among the intervals ..

it of course becomes difficult to reach higher and higher titles ... :) )

Personally I've always felt a real VIP should include at least a 10% software posts in the tally. It is incredible that by "thank-you-posts" only you may get a VIP standard. Yes it is true that their contributions give life to the forum, even if by mere thanking. But many people come here to take away software and NEVER make an effort to bring something to share among us.....That should change! -_-

I want "honorable spammer" rank! :P

Can I ?...

on a serious note (if anyone is interested), probably wrong, but old school stuff without shout- out box; member credits; member rating; post count (past loyalty etc stage)... a bit drawn away from simple and honest- he- is so and so- I know him that way- that's it.. All of them "aids" are bit like global warming trend to me... but that just me! :snooty:

Good input majithia23. This has been discussed in the staff forum, but not everything mentioned there is handled right away. I do agree that we should add some user class above 750+ postings. For the most part I'm happy with using auto-promotions based on some easy criteria. As for rank name I do like Elite for 5000 post :)

@Atasas

lol ... :)

so,

i think if we are classifying the members already ,

why not just reform the criteria a bit ,

and add on some more classification and member titles ,... :)

it would be good for a change ,

and would make the forums a bit more fun , pleasing and a rewarding place .... ;)

^_^

the staff can discuss and have a consensus over new gradation levels and title tags ...!

calling shought .... B)
