Hi guys,

Shortly i updated my Catalyst from 11.2 to 11.4 and run in a problem with Skype. I cannot call people, it crashes, the only way out of it is a restart of Win7.

specs:

OS: Win7 Ultimate x86

Card: XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 (http://xfxforce.com/...aspx?lang=en-gb)

I found out, what was the problem.

Summary:

affected Skype Version: 5.3.0.111

affected Catalyst Version: 11.3 + 11.4 + 11.5

affected component of Catalyst: Catalyst Control Center 2 / AMD Vision Engine Control Center

file responsible for appcrash: atiumdag.dll

Since i downgraded to 11.2 again, i never have problems with calling people on Skype.

Hi 'Olexijl'

I understand from your message that:

1. The Catalyst driver 11.4 is incompatible with Skype.

Addressing your concern is important to me; I will do my best to assist you.

I would like to inform you that it'd be best if you would escalate your issue to the AMD Catalyst engineers, so they maybe aware of the problem and issue a possible fix for the same.

Best Regards,

Please pay attention: not only 11.4, but 11.3 too is incompatible with Skype. See affected versions. So please remove 11.4 from the topic or change it to 11.3 and 11.4.

PS: Where can i inform catalyst engineers? I need some URL, or so.

Try writing it here. May sound odd but it seems they give a proper ear to feedback than to the forums.

Hello 'Olexiji'

I apologize for failing to provide you with a URL of the AMD support team. Here is the link: http://emailcustomercare.amd.com/ If you require a German support team (since you've got Germany's flag), here's the link: http://emailcustomercare.amd.com/default.aspx?language=DE

I hope that answers your question.

Best Regards.

I managed to complete the survey, thanks goes to DKT27.:dance2:

I hope they fix the problem soon. I strongly recommend to install 11.2 from URLs: Windows 7 / Vista x86 or Windows 7 / Vista x64

thanks

Catalyst 11.5 is out, you might want to try and see if it fixes your problem.

I may add 11.5 to noncompatible list of drivers.

Found a solution for me, however it is not a solution for the problem.

I tried to solve the problem from the other end and downgraded Skype. Skype 4 is fully compatible, Skype 5 not in newer Versions.

Skype 5.1.0.112 seems for me compatible with Catalyst 11.5. Well, or simply downgrade to Skype 4.xx

So first of all, do you want the newest Catalyst? Or do you want the newest Skype? Thats the question you need to answer for yourself.

You can get older Skype Versions from Oldapps.com

Old Catalyst can be downloaded from their website. The problem should be in Skype at all, not in Catalyst.
