nsane.forums
PC gamers who have been waiting for 15 years to play Duke Nukem Forever can now decide if the long delayed first person shooter will run on their gaming rigs. Developer Gearbox Software has now revealed the minimal and recommended PC system requirements for the game. The system requirements were revealed on Gearbox's community web site Gearboxity this week, well ahead of the game's current release date of June 14 in the US and June 10 in other parts of the world. Here they are: Minimum Specifications OS: Windows XP/Vista/7 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.0 Ghz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.0 Ghz ]Memory: 1 GB Hard Drive: 10 GB free Video Memory: 256 MB Video Card: nVidia GeForce 7600 / ATI Radeon HD 2600 Sound Card: DirectX CompatibleRecommended Specifications OS: Windows XP/Vista/7 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 Ghz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.6 Ghz Memory: 2 Gb Hard Drive: 10 Gb free Video Memory: 512 MB Video Card: nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS / ATI Radeon HD 3850 Sound Card: DirectX Compatible The system requirements also mention that a one time internet connection via Steam will be required for PC players in order to play the game. Gearbox had revealed earlier this year that the PC version of the game will use Valve's Steamworks game development tools which will provide PC gamers with features like achievements, leaderboards, matchmaking for online multiplayer matches and more. We are still awaiting for Gearbox Software to release word about the much anticipated and promised demo for Duke Nukem Forever which should give everyone a chance to see if the 15 year old wait for this game is going to be worth it. toyo
These are very low-end system requirements... i have a feeling this is due to the fact that it was in development for a gazillion years now... when a HD 3850 and a Core 2 Duo were not even released :P
Bizarre™
I thought this game would require iCore CPUs and nVidia 4xx and up series
toyo
Me too...That shows that it's possible with proper coding to achieve good performance and graphics on "old" hardware... but then again... who wants that? Most certainly not AMD, Nvidia or Intel... these guys obviously want us to buy new hardware every 6 months, again and again.
Nemesis
id like to see a graphics engine in a game that optimizes itself for your hardware to acheive a FPS/graphic quality balance... imagine that, something that works for you, not the other way around.
