looks like a partation fail. dang it. cant find winxp pro sp1. got a new maxtor 120 sata and loading another win home orginal. now i backu about a month or two ago c: onto extrenal harddrive. should i be able to wrote write this win home with my version i had backup?

dang over a 1 GB of nsane stuff gone :lol:. not sure if i backup my anima's. plus couple Gb from newsgroups.

using retrospect that came with md hd. ohh looks like its crap and not wanting to be freindly.

is there anything that would read the backup files on the exrrenal hd or get me access to my dead hd?

looks like its finally restoring. only 26.4 gb. what i guess i like to know is if i install window xp home orginal and i am now installing windows pro sp2 with the backup will it actually overwrite and work afterwards? i hate to have to spend $190 on an oem of windows xp pro sp2. look slike 2 hours of restore time. if anyone's done restore windows xp before could you post how it went for you? thank you.

you could manually make the drive a slave, then copy whatever's savable to your new boot drive. hopefully it's just something with your OS, so after you backup whatever you can, deleting & creating a new partion might fix it :lol:

this is exactly why i have 2 HDDs installed, one is used for backups of installers, notes, cracks, and whatnot. the other is the actual drive being used by windows etc. (movies, music, etc. go on CDs). that way, if something goes wrong i have no prob with formatting. just have to reinstall everything from the second drive and copy the mp3s from the CDs :lol:

i try that. the bios gives it a error and willnot comtunie. the harddrive shows in the settings in there but not in the order of the boot section

i used the maxtor software and connected the power to the dead hd. it saw it but said its partition fail and wouldnt even do the 90 second quick test.

while i actually have 1 dead 120 gb sata, 1 live 120 gb sata, 2 internal 250 gb, 1 extrenal 200 gb, 2 external 250 gb combo media, 60 and a 80 gb firelite. about 200 cdrs of crap, 50 i think around of dvdr's.

right now i install windows home orginal and restoring windows pro sp2 on top of it. not sure if its going to work yet. might still have to buy that win xp pro sp2 and restore over it for the correct files etc.

i know my dead hd can have its data retieved. but that it would cost around $200-500. they are able to get data from burn house fires. last i was doing was emule on the old hd. some anima and other stuff. i try to check the fake freken porn files beforeits fully done. so no telling what less then 5 hours of d/l got me. once had questionable kind of porn and made sure it went to deletion and defrag harddrive.

dang i was thyinking about moving your files onto M drive. oh well.

okay im reboot the windows coputer now. will know in a little bit it its gong to work. looks like i got to reavtive it within 3 days and now its rebooting for a restore on its own. crossing fingers

looks like i had to install ati dirvers. working on sp2 now. this sucks

oh i think i can get the files off my sata hd by using an external usb that lets you connect an internal hd inside it. just have to find one that has an sata connection. nieghbor told me that they where able to get files from their dead hds. that brings up hope i can get my anima back.
