My analysis of Dasumo's fix: Misleading

These are my opinions:

*You are NOT using Eset's servers to update. All the updates are from 3rd party servers. (If you haven't installed the fix, then try using only the //fix.reg//. It doesn't contain 3rd party servers. Than manually update Eset using the retail servers below and Eset will ask for a valid u/p. (In order to do this correctly, there must be signatures to update. You can do this by going to the "Scheduler" and uncheck all the entries. This will prevent Eset from automatically updating using 3rd party servers.) The "Choose automatically" no longer functions normally because the 3rd party servers have been preselected in the registry.

*The User Name/Password (20502050ok) and expiration (2029) date are irrelevant because you are using 3rd party servers. They are just lines entry in the registry. It is placed there via //fix.reg// every time you start your computer. As indicated earlier in a post referencing Nodlogin Team, the validity of a u/p is stored on Eset servers and not in the registry.

*The //fix.reg// is hidden in the <C:\windows> folder. It is set in Eset to install every time you logon or start the computer.

Side notes:

*For those who still have the "Remaining trial period:" and "Upgrade to full version...", your may still be using the trial version. In order to convert it to a retail version, you must click "Upgrade to full version..." and input a valid u/p. IF successful, you will get only the "License valid until:".

*For those who have already installed //fix2029.reg// or //Nod32Fix_Dasumo_v3.exe//, go and try to manually delete a few of the 3rd party servers.

AFter you deleted them, restart //regedit.exe// and see if you are successful. Then restart your computer and look for it again to see if they are there. (I had to reenable the permission to delete mine. It seems to be just in XP. Not quite sure how it happened.)

Finished my test to " BOX1 Fix" and I am sure now, IT WORKS and it`s the best way !

Tested on WinXP Professional - SP2 (32 bits) and ESET Smart Security 3.0.642 .

It`s trial for ever and updates normally. Resets Trial time to 30/31 again.

You can enjoy the best AntiVirus now and on future versions ,for ever !

This is real,people ! The best AV is now ours ! Box made the cure and problems are gone !

Forget all the other Patches and Fixes ! This is the best !!!

What if u erase the user name and pass and use eset trial servers n not retail

Eset will not let you mix retail version with trial servers. IF you erase u/p and use the trial server, you will basically convert to a trial version and the countdown begins. To property convert a trial to retail you just have to click the "Upgrade to a full version..." and use u/p. As you will notice that during the conversion of trial to retail or retail to trial, you will get a lengthy signature update.

I'm currently still using 3.0.621 with TemDono fix (don't really like nodlogin for some reason :frusty:)... but looks like now is the time to upgrade to 3.0.642 :frusty:

Thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately, Eset will crack down with new version updates. We at least have a blueprint now. Also for Vista users, I added a shorthand method that you can use to apply the Box fix. This new method is in the Box2 release. I'm going to bed. Will check in again about 8PM ET. BTW how do u use the Post Icons. I can never get one to work. Is there a method to this madness?

1) Get install Eset NOD32 v3.0.621-642 32bits.

2) Get install this FiX and restart your computer.

3) Update the virus definitions.

4) The remaining period of test always will be of 31 days.

* The licence expires: 31 remaining days forever up to 2050.

* Free Updates.

* Tested in Eset NOD32 v3.0.621-642

on WindowsXP-32bits/Vista-32bits

From the past i truly liked temdono 1.1 fix. actually i liked not the full fix but it's reg entries!

So does the new temdono come in this form?

And another question... what is the real difference between home and business versions of ESET? :(

I've just installed ESS 3.0.642 (previously using 3.0.621) with the new TemDono 1.2 Fix.

Remaining trial period: 31 day(s)

Updated virus signature database to 2928(20080306) without any problem...

I notice that this fix adds a service called "Eset Nod32 Boot" that is set to Automatic. When I disable this service, the Remaining trial period will be 30 day(s).... So I guess as long as I set the service to Automatic, the Remaining trial period will stay 31 day(s)...

My analysis of Dasumo's fix: Misleading (continuation)
Udate using Eset's retail servers not successful.
What if u erase the user name and pass and use eset trial servers n not retail
Eset will not let you mix retail version with trial servers. IF you erase u/p and use the trial server, you will basically convert to a trial version and the countdown begins. To property convert a trial to retail you just have to click the "Upgrade to a full version..." and use u/p. As you will notice that during the conversion of trial to retail or retail to trial, you will get a lengthy signature update.

I see now. When you convert from a retail to trial, included in the first signature update, Eset changes its "eset_upd" to eset_eval in the registry. Very tricky!
