sk4zzy
In order to find a very good software for all my audio duplicates (not only mp3's), I found out about "Similarity". At first it may not appeal to every average Joe out there, but if you can take the time to read the tutorial, very short reading otherwise, you will get to know that is indeed a smashing application.Quick instructions - Just select from the Folder tab your desired drive, directory and even library, go to Options and select your desired compared methods, I personally use only Content and Content (precise) both at 90% and others are left unticked, hit ok to exit de options menu, and begin the scanning for duplicates by pressing the first button in the left - the one with the PLAY. Depending on the files on your chosen location it may take a while to finish, once it's done you may check the results at the next tab name "Results". Easy enough imho, but I dare you to try it and be the judge !Similarity webpageSite: http://www.mediafire.com/Sharecode: file/zxv160gx3mz71dr/Similarity.Premium.v1.5.2.incl.patch-iOTA.rar
shought
An interesting application indeed... As you say I'm not sure it's of interest to the 'average public' though. What do others have to say about this?
sk4zzy
The average people must have a lots of audio information on their pc's, and they may also be in need of such a piece of software. Also people that may not need it now, most definitely will need it later. And there is another category of people that are in need of this type of software, but don't know where to look. And as I have scourged the internetz, there aren't many working applications out there.I may be wrong, but this one is worth at least a check out. Have you tried it for yourself shough, and if you may post some pros and cons if it will be the case?
jalaffa
I have like 40 gigs (each place) of music stored at two different seedboxes, plus at a nas, plus at dedicated torrent folder, plus at a music folder (some music players make changes to the content - tagging etc.). Storage is cheap though. So I'm not sure about this being listed.
LeetPirate
I use jv16pt for finding duplicates but this audio software I believe goes a bit further. You see you may have 2 of the same audio files with different id3 tags and regular duplicate finders will not recognise them as similar because they probably compare CRC and not content. This similarity software is certainly better at finding duplicate music files than jv16pt or regular duplicate file finders. We have nothing like it. Storage is cheap though as jalaffa pointed out and to be honest I don't bother about cleaning up hdd space unless I'm really bored but I'm sure there are those out there who may like to use its functionality.here are my list of pros/cons.pros: we have nothing like it currently listed.cons: I doubt I will get around to using it. (then again there are many other things on the fp I don't use.)
toyo
Very nicely put, Leet. Storage is cheap (but not to anyone, trust me on that). Managing an audio collection through the years might be pretty hard if it's big and you add/remove items constantly. From my perspective, I'm a pretty tidy guy (with PC stuff :P), so I have everything nicely ordered. But I saw many PCs, and I know that the vast majority of users NEVER actively manage their files. So it could be useful. But we need our users opinions, the more the better. So start writing your opinions, guys!
sk4zzy
Storage nowadays is cheep indeed, not to brag myself but I have three hdd's of good size each, so space is not an issue. The fact is that if you download many music, selections mostly with different albums, you may find out that you will have a good amount of clones out there. But this is a product that may appeal too few, and also the users that care to keep their music library tidy are also in a much smaller proportion. LeetPirate - Glad that you checked it out, well put and I didn't seem to find anything so math wise and good as this. It's funny enough thou, I stand by this like it's my own product or I will have some benefits from it. The bottom line is that when I need something, and know that it isn't available on any news sites, I care enough to let others find out about that too. Just the way I am. :D
