elohelomg
Current Situation: Customer brought in a vista computer, and it was constantly restarting. Figured heck, its probably a virus, or...well its vista. So i swapped it out to Win7(during which time, the screen was all funky) and the install went fine. I restarted, the pc went up and running. I give her the computer, and i get a call about an hour later saying the computer is reallly slow. I go in with team viewer, the computer is running fine. So she goes on about her day and I get another call that the computer is reallly slow again. I ask her to restart, get back in teamviewer, everything is okay.I get another call in the morning, and this time, the computer is retstarting like it was before. Now, i believe this is caused by the video card (the display was funny, and the video would freeze often), then come back to life. Now, i was wondering if there was a program (perferably a boot cd), that would diagnose everything. I do mean everything. The video card, the hard drive, cpu everything.
toyo
Did you open it? Maybe some fan is dusty and something overheats. What you describe can well be caused by throttling because of excessive heat. Run AIDA64 and a demanding game/system torture app and log the results for GPU/CPU temps, voltages, fan rpm and so on. But the results are the same. The video card performs very well, at first, but then, decides to go out. video gets stuck at 0fps and eventually closes. I'm going to take out the video card now and see if its dust, or, if in fact, its gone bye bye.
toyo
There is no "pro" version for AIDA64 :) You can find it on the site here. I usually update to the Betas as they appear (download). Make sure you download the Extreme Edition, or some stuff will not be available.

I'm pretty sure it wont make much of a difference with the aida64. I swapped out the video cards and am running it under another stress test to see how it goes. There is no "pro" version for AIDA64 :) You can find it on the site here. toyo
That's strange. I never encountered a faulty PCI Express, but of course everything electronic can be defective.
HX1
I would be left to believe something else is causing this...

HX1
Now Dell has tech that identifies its hardware.. after market parts do not always work as intended .. even the Power supply to laptops have a single wire in the middle which carries 0 voltage.. that allows the thing to tell the system that it is dell product.. ELSE the thing WILL NOT charge the battery.. and you get error messages on Boot.. some go for it being the MOBO but it isn't and can be as simple as buying a new charger from DELL.. something to think about..She may be better off trying to see if she has a warranty on the machine... and if not looking to see what it will take to get proper hardware... Something is amiss .. I don't think its a slot..AT what points does this occur.. any consistencies between applications or usage type?
