This place seems awesomeI downloaded hitman originally about 15 days ago from their own website and activated the free licensewhen I replace hitman with the patched version and open it. first it seems to be right and shows commercial license then it automatically starts to update. After the update it then shows free license 13 days left.Tried to uninstall everything and start from scratch. tried it 3 different times and it still does the same thingThought I did as the instructions say from shajt but it keeps auto updatingsomething seems to be telling it to that I may have missed when uninstalling it . Brrownie Posted February 18, 2011 Share Posted February 18, 2011 @ FreewayDo complete uninstall of Hitman Pro ( I use thrid party uninstaller to uninstall) Restart your machine & than 1st try the patch from the Front page here. It sould work & if for some odd reason it didn't work than try this Fix. Note: After few more post you should be able to view the second fix. Cheers .. But now when it opens it shows a message Your computer is vulnerable to attacks exploiting a vulnerability in Windows Shell (MIcrosoft Security Advisory 2286 198) Hitman pro can install a fix which protects you against this vulnerability. The fix is invisible and has no effect on system performance Enable LNK Protection Not sure what this and if I should enable it. I sure don't want to undo something to do with the patch. Wondered if you had any thoughts on thisThanks again Brrownie for all your help. shajt Posted February 21, 2011 Share Posted February 21, 2011 Okay people , I already explained that LNK message several times, that was mistake from earlier patches.Here is a proper and final release of Hitman , I'm using the same version on my machine, you will have no problems with this one for sure.If you are really vulnerable to LNK you will see that message and it's up to you whether you wanna fix it via Hitman or just update your Windows with Windows Update and fix it that way.
