ck_kent
Hi Guys,I just need your thoughts/experiences on the quality of reconditioned hard drives.I just recently returned my WD 500GB (Blue) HDD for warranty and I read somewhere that WD replaces it with a reconditioned drive (also experienced it with Seagate), is it still reliable as a brand new drive? My past experience with a Seagate reconditioned drive was it did not last that long, only about 2yrs. So I'm thinking if reconditioned drives are not as reliable as a brand new drive, I'm just gonna buy a new one and make the other one my backup. Thanks! Kavu
To me, HDD would be a pretty big gamble, and as you said past refurbished didn't last long. Could always sell the refurbished on a auction site?
Administrator Lite Posted January 27, 2011 Administrator Share Posted January 27, 2011 If its manufacturer refurbished it should be as good as a new drive. That said depending on how long you've had the drive for (i.e. less than 6 months) you could we well in your rights to reject a re-furb and demand a new one.
