Hello.

"Main one" = "System" ?

If yes, did you try to open your events viewer with an admin session or a LUA ? Try to open with right click, "Run as Administrator".

++

No difference using run as administrator, still can't clear main log.

What happens when you try to delete the "main one" ? Could you describe more ?

Well I just did it and because of the way I did it ( like an idiot.. ) I am not for sure which one deleted it.. but its either from the Clear All Log.bat file I created from the link above.. or from clearing the files which is mention in the post right before this..

@ heath28

Yeah LOL, I can understand.

@ csmdew

Whichever method you employ, would just like to remind you that very often the 'Refresh' button (to the right hand side of the console snap-in) does not always work. So, to view the end result one needs to close the console down and then re-open it.

Anyone know how to delete/clear the administrative events log on win 7. Can clear all logs except the main one, thanks.

If you're referring to the 'Summary of Administrative Events,' try the following steps:-

<select the event> >>----> <click> 'File' >>----> <click> 'Options...' >>----> <click> 'Delete Files' >>----> <click> 'OK'

Don't work

Here is a link to the BAT file which I made and uploaded quite awhile back.. Just extract and Run as Admin.. I keep mine in my Program Files Directory.. http://www.nsaneforums.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=2817

But .. I would run a Disk Cleanup and remove all logs... make sure you restart the Event Viewer too.. and if this does not work I know of one more thing to do ... possibly but I have to look into it.. There is a file inside the Panther Folder in Windows.. called setup.etl.. occasionally I have read and seen that in my system.. as well.. A few errors can be cleared from the logs by renaming this file and allowing the system to create a new one... This was something else I had done recently...on the system in question because of a Circular Kernel.... error logged.. which also has something to do with Profile Switching and IPv6..

Working perfectly here - check your privileges (or try clearing your logs in 'safe boot.')

Priviliges is not the problem; this does not clear the admin events log, it clear other log.

Ran bat file and got rid of everything so I can start fresh list of errors. It is always the same ones, mainly to do with live msgr media stack not loading and something to do with my usb port; so I'll try to fix them if they come back up. Thanks
