toyo
Sigh. I hate it when I surf the web and stumble upon some site that requires such things. Didn't knew we have it here too.

LeetPirate
Sigh. I hate it when I surf the web and stumble upon some site that requires such things. Didn't knew we have it here too.Yes it may be a little inconvenient but it's the one and only limitation of that type we have here. For all the wonderful treats available in coders corner we offer for free and not even ask for a penny or donations from our members. It's not too much to ask for members to make a tiny contribution in the form of useful posts to help build our community. Even everything on the front page is free for everyone to leech, I don't believe this coders corner restriction to be too much to ask of our users. It also serves to protect the code developers in that forum, we don't want just anyone from the random public to have access to there. And don't worry, nobody gets away with making useless posts simply to enter coders corner, we are always vigilant in detecting people like that because spam posts negatively impact the rest of our valued members. toyo
The time of web naivete is almost gone. The websites are a business and nothing is for free, and nsanedown is up and running... need I say more? Asking money from members for the type of services nsane is offering would be damaging. Any forced contributions are practically meaningless. All visitors already contribute, by visiting and hopefully clicking something ;)While I agree that the info posted has value and membership/posting is a very small price, I'll give you an example:As I said before, I visited many sites with some info/links obstructed by pieces of text like: "You need to register to see this link" and similar stuff. Well I don't have ONE account on such sites, posting not even entering in discussion. When sites ask from me anything, clicks, registration etc. I just avoid them. Some are too good and have reputation and you decide that you want to register: Now that's the way to go: the visitor must be charmed by the site, so he wants to contribute somehow. I'm glad we didn't done that.I agree with you though, but this is not solely to 'force' members to contribute. It's also in order to protect our coders and community... :(I have the same problem like hosam.I remember that some time ago, I could open topic with norton software. How many posts I must have?Read above as well ;)It's not much.
