Adobe new "Bridge 4.0.4" Update blacklists serials

So don't update... or if you did it already, like I did, just re-enter a new serial and done. Same requirement remains for the hosts file! There is also a chance you won't be able to use CS Live from your applications any more...

Later Edit: Other people had problems, and they had CS5 blocked completely from the net. It is possible that the date 1 December 2010 was the factor that cause the deactivation of the software.

Thanks! Invision makes real good forum software, keeps evolving. Too bad it's not free.

As for CS5, there was a global Bridge 4.0.4 update (showed as you have to do many updates, for every product you installed or so, as almost all use Bridge), maybe 28 MB or so. The Bridge update blacklists (some?) serials, and you need to supply CS5 with a new serial or use the Trial for 30 days. After you make this update, you will be presented with the Illustrator 15.0.2 update, which is safe.

My CS Live is no longer connectable from the applications, though, but it works online, at least until May, when the Trial ends.

Thanks to your alert, I didn't update my Adobe Bridge. :)

So, are there any new serials available to counter this problem?

PS. Don't over-rate Invision, it's really really buggy, ask shought, he calls the people at IPB guys gays. :secret: :P

As I said, this update really caught me off-guard and being used to just get the new stuff from Adobe Updater (since it was really stable and everything worked perfectly, unlike CS4) I just installed the 4.0.4 update (it shows like you have an update available for every Adobe product you have installed that uses Bridge). Next time you launch some CS5 app, it will show that the serial is expired and gives 2 options: Trial or new commercial serial. So I just fired the CORE generator and put a new key, and all is fine and dandy now, except that CS Live is gone... can't connect to the servers.

I really don't know what exactly caused this... could even be that they checked the serial associated with my CS Live account and blacklisted it... there are a few threads on the web where lots of people cry in desperation for their lost CS5 apps.

Pretty important: after updating to 4.0.4 (and only after that!) Illustrator updated itself. So this could well be a mandatory update for CS5 if you would like to install other future stuff... like WGA was for Windows. Although I maybe wrong, and you could skip Bridge updates from now on and just download from Adobe's site whatever updates you might need, needs testing...

Anyway, let us know what worked for you...

Well, I think I'll skip this Bridge update, I only use Photoshop and don't think I need Bridge for the type of making/editing I do in Photoshop. And if I do update it in future, I'll follow your advice for using the CORE keygen. :)

I got hit by updating, and reinstalled and avoided the update. But yesterday I updated and nothing went wrong.

Perhaps it was a date trigger? There was one in CS4 (I think January 26th?) because I got 4.0.4 then later another update and everything still works.
