Is Spyware Cease a Legitimate Anti-Spyware Product?

As I've been browsing my IT news feeds today, I found an article on the Romanian website FaraVirusi.com, stating that Spyware Cease is a rogue antivirus. The name sounded familiar. Spyware Cease is mentioned a few times on nsanedown too, in the software update section. It is available for download on download.cnet.com as well, here. Now, I don't know about you guys, but this website always seemed a credible one to me, malware free.

I did some research online and indeed, there are more than a few articles debating just how rogue or not, Spyware Cease is. One of the more detailed ones can be found here. And Malwarebytes has detected more then 700.000 instances of Rogue.SpywareCease worldwide.

The original article, for those of you who can understand it, is here

So, what do you know about this? Is Spyware Cease rogue or not? And if it is, is it okay to post updates of it on nsane.forums?

NO.

Both IObit Security 360 and Malwarebytes Pro flagged this software as "Rogue Anti-Spyware" upon attempt to install. This occurred with Spyware Cease versions 4.6.1 and 5.0.2.

reviews that said it was legitimate had adult porn ads and dating. so they dont count. so verified a NOGO
