Night Owl
DKT27's performance graph with Firefox 4.0 Beta 7 should be interesting ... :DFirefox said the flagship addition to the new beta is probably the addition of the JägerMonkey JIT compiler, which can dramatically boost performance: by five times the beta 4's performance in the V8 Version 6 benchmark, and by three times beta 4 in both SunSpider and the Kraken benchmark.Mozilla also said that the new beta supports hardware acceleration in the final compositing of a Web site. To enable this, users will need a DirectX 10 supported graphics card; even Windows XP is supported. (To check, type "about: support" after downloading and installing the beta; then scroll down to the bottom and see if the "GPU Accelerated Windows" descriptor contains a "1/1" after it.) But the additional acceleration will mean that users will be able to tap into the power of their graphics card for rendering, instead of merely using the CPU to render a page.Mozilla also enabled graphical improvements with both the use of OpenType, which enables various Web fonts, as well as 3D graphics via WebGL. In this case, either a Mac or a Windows user will need a graphics card that supports OpenGL; however, that also means that more 3D graphics content should be able to be encoded within the browser.Source

mara-
DKT27's performance graph with Firefox 4.0 Beta 7 should be interesting ... :DWell, it's better to say graph is huge disappointment for me (attached). And they still didn't fix the damn thing with fonts. I'm installing myself Chrome tomorrow. From what I could see it has nice extensions and I tried it on some other computers and it's so much better then Firefox (faster startup, faster pages loading, low RAM usage). I'll probably stick with it till final version of Firefox 4, but if final will have this poor results I'll stay with Chrome.Cheers ;)

mara-
I'm using Chrome now, it so fast. Only thing I really miss is drop down for address bar. I can't believe they did add this feature. As workaround I use bookmarks toolbar. Anyone know some extension to get drop down for address bar?Cheers ;)
berra
You mean something like this:"Dropdown List of Most Visited Links"https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/logbmehmiacemkimbpcbjgaikobdndah?hl=en

mara-
@marathis one :blink:Yes, that's it. Thanks. Why are you surprised that I look for this? This is very useful for me. BTW, Chrome designers are really funny. Some basic functions are missing, like Go button, and prompt when more then one tab is open. For this second I tried Window Close Protector but it's not very good.Cheers ;)
Night Owl
DKT27 doesn't seem to be around today. It would be interesting to compare his performance graph with Firefox 4.0 Beta 7 to the results that mara- already posted.

AND they call that thing the 'Awesome Bar' is supposed to do History, Bookmarks , and it has a few other names... just for reference purposes.. It is really helpful.. just like Search on the Start Menu in 7... three letters and your in.. I don't actually use mouse.. so I wind up using keys instead most of the time anyway.. I have the mouse pad but I am faster that way..EXAMPLE: Press F6 >Type 'nsa' > Arrow Key to desired selection > Hit Enter...

HX1
Well.. I never left FF.. we just added someone to the party is all around here.. the more the merrier.. share and share alike... :w00t: Want to know something else...IE9 outruns both of them in my system in startup.. FF is the fastest at loading pages.. AND..IE9 second.. ( I have enabled it to use software acceleration instead of hardware acceleration and it improved running on my system as I don't really have the juice or card to support the natural function.. ) only with a hot cache does Iron come close.. ( startup is close with IE9 ) but thats not saying too much as so do the others.. and if I had the Google Updater running on my system it would definitely not be as fast and would hang on every poll out of my system.. as would everything else .. slow down.. Opera is letting me down right now.. its about as fast as Iron.. sometimes.. and inconsistently.. why I don't know.. maybe I need to redo the connections numbers after an upgrade.. but it just is not living up to expectation... probably on average it is as fast... Bizarre™
@heath28m:Praise the Lord, there's still a believer :POn a serious note, I'm beginning to doubt Fx4.However, I love Panorama so much I won't ditch it.
HX1
Well pretty soon... you won't have to worry about Fx4.. and I think the dev/artist who created Fx4.. is now working on a new Metro Style for FF.. It in my minimalist opinion.. is quite nice.. :w00t: I have seen a few mockups.. of whats to come.. and awaiting something to see.. My native installation here.. I don't even use a skin.. just default with UI changes.. I use AnyColor on my portable installation to keep it dark and with the theme I have created for PortableApps.. but I don't know.. I would sort of like to have something better.. more minimal for it.. may do some tweaking.. looks very similar to my browser now...EDIT: I finally bit the bullet and added Firefox Files and Folders...to my ESS Exclusions.. seems to have improved it a little.. still doing some testing.. I am liking it though..CORRECTION: The developer behind Fx4 is not the same person. Metro Mockup is done by Boneyardbrew.
