Whats the best Antispyware ?

I have downloaded avg antispy, counter spy , XoftSpySE. Don't know which is

the best to use. Or is there a better one. :battle: :sneaky: :yes: :frusty:

I think the best is PCTools SpywareDoctor BUT if ur using utorrent u cant have it installed (maybe u can put the services on and off when u wanna run it). I use Ad-Aware Pro bcause of spywaredoctor not working with utorrent.

EDIT: The latest SpywareDoctor from this site and the latest utorrent beta seems to be working gonna monitor it for a while.

There are a lot that I like, don't know what's best.

I like Counterspy, but I doubt it's realtime scanner's works as good on firefox as it does on IE. AVG (ewido) is a good one too, only they have problems with getting the updates to the users.

Spyware Doctor is a good one too. And last but surely not least A-squared Anti-Malware. Currently I got a subscription for a year (full version), and I like this one.

They have a beta out (v 2.5) which uses less memory and I think it's on par with Counterspy and Spyware Doctor. You can try it out for 30 days, or grab the free scanner.

Well now i use Spyware doctor on my comp.. but i turn the service on and off bcasue i dont want it too run in background

I use SpyBot Search and Destroy (free) & SpySweeper (thanks to nsane) and I run HijackThis....helps a bunch and works for me!

I have Windows Defender installed and it catches things that my AVG AntiSpyware overlooks. The good thing about Windows Defender is that it runs in almost in secret and doesnt use to many resources. If you want to use Windows Defender but can't due to your Windows being not genuin, then head over to ePirate.net and look for the download named "Official WGA Patcher Permanent Kit!". This kit will get your copy of Microsoft to become a valid version of Windows which will make it so that you can not only install Windows Defender but also get updates.

Sunbelt CounterSpy or ParetoLogic XoftSpySE. Choose either one. Personally I like CounterSpy most. It's an improved version based on the solid GIANT backend that Microsoft fucked up with Defender.

last time i tried counterspy i searched and found som spyware then i scanned with spywaredoctor and found some more.. (but still the bakground detector sux with spywaredoctor, tried on win media center, counterspy doesnt work on vista)

I swear by Spyware Doctor - it's caught things that Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Windows Defender have all missed.

just remember, anti spyware is the same as any anti virus program....

if 1 prog could do all the work alone, then why have we got like 600000000 doing the same thing :angelnot:

1 will catch/miss what others do/dont

There is no win situation "people go with GUI "bad choice in my opinion".

I like Counterspy, it uses less resourses than Spyware Doctor and my machine boots alot faster with Counterspy than Spyware Doctor.

The best simply doesn't exist. People tend to believe because one scanner missed a thing, the other one is better.

So the program that was used for the first scan allways loses...

Imo you cant compare antispyware that simple. The best way will always be a cocktail of different programs.

I used to swear by Webroot SpySpeeper with the "fix" available on here..

but I've changed to SuperAntiSpyware - it found. and killed loads of Vundu variants that SpySweeper let install.

Actually bearontheinternet makes a lot of sence about using a cocktail of programs.

But if you can't use a lot of programs at once then get a good multi scanner (not always effective) like Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007.

In the verified hash downloads, you will see where I have posted where you can download if from ThePirateBay if you want to, it comes with a keygen and makes it so it works for 1 year.

Windows Defender still works fine for me, use to use Webroot Spy Sweeper but eventually it stopped "finding" things and so I got Spyware Doctor.

Spyware Doctor did great but it had something that I didnt like for some reason.

Ad-Aware is good, SpyBot Search and Destroy still works ok.

AVG Antispyware worked very well in doing thourough searches but it too eventually had problems with "unregistering" after about a week.

I have tried other anti-spyware software but nothing as stand alone is as good to me as Windows Defender and Trend Micro PC-cilin.

I used to love Trend Security Suite, till I installed it on my kids PC, and my g'friend at the time's PC - it nuked all their emotion/smily's from off MSN, so beware, if your into that kind of thing - it may happen to you.

I've changed over to Spy Doctor after hearing good things about it on here, I tried Counter Spy - but the kids PC has "Net Nanny" on it, which sent CS mental!! So, Spy Doctor it is.
