emule question on high ID

install emule offical and copy paste morph 45 and then copy paste the new morph.

i still got both morph files (pthreadVC.dll and pthreadVC2.dll)

right now im using win xp sp2 firewall and a ipblocker and linksys router. i got the ports right on both ends. but at times emule system will give me a low id and fail a port test. reclick win xp firewall porting in emule and retest and its passes after a couple of trys. is that normal?

i turn zone alarm firewall off since that said to cause problems with emule and its not very friendly when it comes to porting.

its working now.

planing on switch firewalls to the one that nsane rec's later on this pc.

oh does anyone use winxp universial pnp? and Upnp with their routers?

1. Don't use 2 firewalls at same time - they conflict with each other.

2. Certainly don't use Windows XP firewall. It's rubbish. Zone Alarm is as well for that matter, try Sygate or Outpost.

3. Is your modem have a built-in router? If so, try enabling DMZ.

It sounds like you have far too much blocking going on and it's having trouble getting a stable connection

Yea I used ZA back in the old days and found loads of problems with it.

Uninstall it, and install Sygate. It works in pretty much the same way and yes it is very easy to port.

Once installed, disable Windows XP firewall.

you and others here update every single time on the software and with the betas?

i miss the old old old days when we didnt need all this crap. in a prefect world winxp works super and there are no bad guys.

As Samurai said, rid urself of XP firewall and Zone Alarm. I like SyGate, really easy to use for the average user.

I personally dont recommend enabling DMZ.. Its a pointless feature.. Exspecially if its just for emule or p2p in general. Just know what ports to forward and u'll be ok.

I use Upnp on my router. Its sorta useful if ur programs support it. I know Azureus and BitComet support it.. And I think Emule Morph also supports it..

okay, i got sygate on. both ports pass the test but the servers are like saying all appear dead crap. kad is working.

i went to application list and into emule under advance. inputted the same port for both tcp remote and local. remote udp and local iwth the other port. both act as client and as server are checked.

also inside advance rules added emule tcp port number for both remote and local and the same for udp.

i didnt know if i needed to do both.

u got the firewall working with the programs? Good...

Erm, for the advance tabs, I just give the certain programs access to all ports.. but thats just me

Now, u need to open the ports on ur router too. Then u should be set.

had the router setup long ago

been messing aroud with sygate, tools - advance rules - add tcp and udp for emule.

tools - applications - emule - advance i clear those 4 settings to empty.

pass the port test and actually got on razorback 2. search on server and kad network seems to return a lot on a key word i had used before. switch to nsane's 800/50 setting and uploading 12 and downloading from just starting emule is 1-4. dont know if its just the files i got left or what. hate to have too click on porn to see if the downloading goes to a much higher number. ill give it some time before i try that.

is emule always this touchy? sometimes passing and sometimes not pssing a port test. even when passed not liking the servers. well its up to 35. i guess its going to work for now.

dont bother about the port test. It isnt really reliable.. at leaste, not for me. Getting the high ID is all u really need. That, and its a better "test" to see if everything is configured properly.

Just curious, what connection are you on myidisbb?

dsl, 1.5Mbps speed downstream and 256Kbps upstream. which from whjat i understand is nothing like the orginal dsl of 8Mbps. sad that japs get 25-30 Mbps for something like $25. but the usa is stuck on taxing every freaken thing.

Firewalls are useless if your router is set up correctly.

Say.... i want to control application "x" from accessing the internet (and this application btw is a backdoor... not detected by an anti-virus), how does this router control this? :)
