CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware!

Thanks to anuraag for the update.

CCleaner has a list of well known locations where garbage is stored to delete it.

That INI file adds a lot of disk/registry locations where another programs may leave their useless/temp files.

I think that locations are added to that INI by CCleaner forums people.

And usage is as simple as putting that INI in the same folder as CCleaner.exe.

But you need a .NET program (CCEnhancer) to get that file (absolutely disgusting, one program to get one file), so Jose Matias Lemos kindly put it here in response to my request.

so you don't trust the one that is allready in the there :) ?? just curious

The WinApp2.ini file from CCEnhancer adds 270+ new programs to CCleaner:

CCEnhancer is a small tool which adds support for over 270 new programs into the popular program CCleaner. The tool uses the WinApp2.ini system built into CCleaner to easily add new rules and definitions for programs. The rules were sourced mainly from the Piriform Support Forum, with several sourced from other places around the internet. Directly download the winapp2.ini file here.

@fl0ppy:

That file extends CCleaner power, it's nice (though deleting IconCache.db is not always useful). BUT i prefer not needing a program to download one file.

@Jose:

Sorry, i thought you'd understand that word... if you're from Argentina.

Next time i'll only say "Gracias, tio" or something similar.

OK, thanks, N.Owl!

But...

Jose's file: 26/Sep - 93.7KB

Online file: 1/Oct - 90.8KB

It's very strange... unless it's a custom file from one person... and not the one taken by CCEnhancer.

Any clue?

You're most welcome, Jota.Ce. :)

José's post was back on 28 Sep, so his file of 26 Sep was up-to-date back then. I don't know why today's online file directly from the CCEnhancer website is smaller than the previous one. :dunno: :unsure: It's definitely direct from the CCEnhancer website.
