nsane.forums
Chip firm touts new processors aimed at mobile and low power devices Intel has revealed pricing (PDF) for its forthcoming Core i series and Celeron chips aimed at mobile and low power devices. The 2.66GHz i5-580M costs $266 (£168) and is listed as having 3M L2 cache, two cores and four threads, while the i5-560M, which has the same specs, is priced at $225 (£142). Intel has also listed the 1.33GHz Core i5-560UM, which falls under its ultra low voltage banner. This chip offers 3M L2 cache, two cores and four threads and is listed at $250 (£157). Also low-voltage is the 32nm 2.26GHz LV/uLV Intel Core i7-660LM, which costs $346 (£218) and provides 4M L2 cache, two cores and four threads, and the 1.46GHz i7-680UM for ultra-mobile which costs $317 (£200). The Celeron chips include the 32nm 2GHz P4600 with 2M L2 cache, two cores and two threads at $86 (£54), and the 45nm 2.1GHz T3500 with 1M L2 cache, two cores, two threads and 800MHz FSB costs $80 (£50). Just one processor has fallen in price. The 45nm 2GHz Celeron T3300, with 1M L2 cache, two cores, two threads and 800MHz FSB, has dropped by seven per cent to $80 (£50). Intel will be hoping the latest additions to its range help keep it the dominant vendor in the market. Research firm iSuppli said that between the 2009 and 2010 second financial quarters, the two chip makers retained their positions in the market with only minimal change in market share. Intel's remains around 80 per cent with rival AMD on 11.5 per cent. View: Original Article
