R0H1T
Now why would I wanna react to this its just that I put a case across for Outpost stating that its the best firewall(standalone nothing to do with AV) but in the end its upto the enduser who may have his/her own preferences that's all ! Bizarre™
Bizarre™As I said earlier I'll give you the pros/cons of COMODO when I install its latest stable release but can't do that currently since I've got ESS(NOD32) working fine btw what about Outpost firewall which you were not impressed with? You clearly mentioned that you're not using the latest build, and that there is no standalone installer for Firewall and AV.So am I right in my assessment that you judged COMODO poorly without even gathering substantial evidence? If that's the case, then how can you tell if it has redundant / useless features and that it's bloated? In regards to Outpost, it would've been great if it has something like a preset for its HIPS.Its constant alert is enough to drive one insane. In COMODO, selecting a preset will do the rest.
R0H1T
Bizarre™COMODO ver5 RC is close enough to the stable release for me to have an opinion about the new features & changes(if any) per se not necessarily just about the stability/bug fixes. Haven't tried all the installers but clearly when all of them(free not CIS premium trial) have the same file size 48MB(50179528) there's clearly something wrong about it.Well if that's your deduction then let it be so I've got no qualms about that. The biggest problem with COMODO is its annoying popups & defense+(the lesser said the better) which for me are(both of them) redundant as firewalls in this day & age should be able to make out what app to block or not. If you do want specific details then I'll have to install COMODO 5.0.162636.1135 for a final say OR let me say it this way the fact that not much has changed in COMODO firewall(UI/features/settings etc.) over the years whilst in current scenario most of those should be permanently ON or totally discarded make them abit defunct since its left upto the user to decide what to do with them & not everyone knows about the intricate nuances of a complex web(internet) of current day scenario(if you can provide me with screenshots of earlier versions it'll be easier for me to prove the (dis)similarities abound). Now Outpost does have a default preset which is good enough for a normal user(who can turn off the auto learn mode safely or better still put Outpost to start in the backgorund instead) while for COMODO there are alot of advanced settings that should be ON by default & even without the training mode there are way too many popups for my convenience. Haven't tried all the installers but clearly when all of them(free not CIS premium trial) have the same file size 48MB(50179528) there's clearly something wrong about it.Well, other programs are as big, if not bigger, than COMODO ^_^The biggest problem with COMODO is its annoying popups & defense+(the lesser said the better) which for me are(both of them) redundant as firewalls in this day & age should be able to make out what app to block or not. If you do want the specific details then I'll have to install COMODO 5.0.162636.1135 for a final say.If that's the case, then Outpost must be redundant as well since it also has annoying alerts.COMODO on the other hand, especially v5, has greatly reduced popups and can be further enhanced by customizing. In fact, comparing v4 and v5, I barely notice alerts that should be coming from Firewall and D+.So you say Outpost has presets, but I'm not talking about Mode Presets and / or Profile Presets.COMODO has another set that belongs to Firewall and D+, which IMO Outpost lacks. Now Outpost does have a default preset which is good enough for a normal user(who can turn off the auto learn mode safely) while for COMODO there are alot of advanced settings that should be ON by default & even without the training mode there are way too many popups for my convenience.Like I said, I'm not talking about Mode Presets and / or Profile Presets.COMODO from v3 to v4 produce a lot of alerts on first install. I don't see this on v5.Outpost on the other hand (the latest build), produces a lot of popups on first install.Based on what I've gathered from everyone's posts. The full potential of a program can only be realized once configured over time. There's no shortcut.Regardless, it all boils down to personal preferences. So, there's no point in saying that Program A is > than B.If you want Program A, then good for you.If another chooses Program B, then good for them. There's no need to shoot each other down ;)
