No IE8 doesn't work. I went back to it to try but no joy. Retried 9 now, still the same. Windows is up to date, and graphics card is pretty decent. I never really use IE, but like to know its working incase I ever need it. I'll look into DirectX as I downloaded 9 for GameBooster recently, something may have gone wrong.

The fraction of a second its on for shows up in task manager and disappears instantly, you have to really look for it or you'll miss it. :D

I must have changed some settings somewhere thats caused it, just don't know what. Don't want to system restore or anything as done a lot of stuff lately, and IE is the only problem.

I did put in a new router yesterday, but everything else is working fine. Its bound to be a tick in a box needed or taken away lol. I play around with things way too much :frusty:

Think I'll try an OS of the Mint variety next :D

Use repair center app from Yamicsoft's Win7Manager. You might need to repair sytem components &/or system files(sfc) you should try this out cause it worked for me when I had problems with WMP/IE otherwise you might have driver problems or a hardware one.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried them all but no joy. The problem comes up quite a bit by the look of it. Lots of talk about it online. Have done all the suggested fixes I could find but hasn't worked. Same story for a lot of users. Their next suggestion was to ring MS help, and they are told to reinstal windows :frusty:

That won't be happening lol. I'll probably never use it much anyway ^_^

Im even downloading Windows Live atm :fear: because im all out of ideas :(

I can't see what I've done to break it, as it worked a few days ago. Looked through a system restore to try and jog my memory, but nothing stands out. Im not doing that as I will lose a lot of my hard work from the last few days.

Anyone else managed to fix this problem? I've tried all the usual fixes, repairs to system etc, so I feel its just some software blocking it, but cant figure it out.

Carry on with Firefox as usuall. Im like a dog with a bone when I have a problem :D I won't let go.

Run them in Safe Mode and Manage Addons.. then see if disabling all addons will allow it to operate and start normally.. You can re-enable until you find which one..

Also you should run a HiJackThis! Log and Scan.. and see what all you can figure out as being additional BHO.. ( or SpyBot either one ) and ActiveX.. Seems like it would be the only thing..

No reason to let go of something that should be as it.. LOL.. Break the bone in half kill them with it and take back the other half.. Keep it all as it should belong to you anyway.. Uhh Hmm.. LOL

EDIT: There can also be registry entries and other problems that can interfere as well.. You may not pick up the infection or issue by scanning your files.. and may need to take the time to scan your registry with SpyBot Search and Destroy.. or even a cleaner.. Just like idiots that try to infect your system and disable Task Manager so you can't kill the the malicious file.. Some of these can be hard to kill and detect.. even slowly infecting system with Virtumaonde though the registry.. I mean it is unlikely.. BUT..

Believe me i've tried all I can think of. :frusty: Anyway im just backing up my last few days work, and gonna try a system restore :D If that doesn't work then I have a full backup I can use. I think I deleted some stuff I shouldn't from IE,(didn't realise it was part of Windows and shouldn't be deleted ;)) but cant find it amongst the 100,000 deleted bits and pieces :D

Im done with trying so I know at least this will work
