<img src="http://www.nsanedown.com/images/logos/KMPlayer.png" class="logo" alt="KMPlayer" title="KMPlayer" />The KMPlayer is all in one media player covering various formats. It has an extra feature to play Incomplete/Damaged AVI file, Locked Media Files while downloading or sharing, Compressed Audio Album (zip, rar) and so on. It handles a wide range of subtitles and allows you to capture audio, video, and screenshots in many ways. The player provides both internal and external filters with a fully controlled environment without grappling with DirectShow merit system. The player can set multifarious audio and video effects, control playback speed and octave, select parts of a video as favorites, do a powerful A-B repeat, remap the keys of remote interface for HTPC including overlay screen controls, change a skin dynamically depending on a media type playing, and many more. It is completely customizable thanks to a wide selection of skins and color schemes.

I used to think Media Player Classic Home Cinema was the best (along with Core AVC pro filter) but when I tried the KM Player, I was astounded at how good the sound was by comparison, even with the stock settings. So I started using the KM Player and tweaked it so it would use Core AVC pro as an external filter and GPU acceleration. So I'm pretty happy with the KM Player, especially now that they are issuing occasional updates.

what about good ole' winamp any thoughts... -peace ;)

I only use KM Player for video files. I use AIMP2 for audio files. Since I don't use winamp, I have no thoughts about it.

it's been my #1 and only player for years especially for integrated codecs and lot of options, filter etc. etc.

now that PotPlayer is being translated regularly with new versions, I switched to that one and so far I like it more (feels more light, most files play using DXVA fine, latest kmp has green borders on many [ofc, could be settings])..

and just for those who don't know, PotPlayer is coded by the original author of KMP and he started deving it after he sold KMP to pandora-tv iirc.

Anyway...

Since KMPlayer is derivative of MPlayer- that's I keep as #1 player of all times

There are load of similar (derivative) players like SMPlayer etc zilions of tones and it is least resources using and most cross platformed player I'd recommend @ Least to try it in a simple executable form(portable) without install

Rather funny playing several different format films at once!

i have to inform u though that kmplayer is not related or based on mplayer, despite it's similar name.

kmplayer is based on i think ffdmpeg iirc [at least earlier] (i think there was some rant about it having stolen some code from ffmpeg too, idk) and other stuff. not sure if this is valid anymore tho as i noticed this build seemingly added dxva to it, so the decoders might've been totally changed.

anywayyyy. yea. mplayer is the player been around for linux for ages and ofc it has been possible to compile it for windows for long time already. not quite sure why it didn't take off on windows, since it's quite good.

maybe the fact the guis are all controlling a cmd line prog somehow make it feel less flexible (don't know if i'm making sense anymore, real tired), what it lacked for me when i tried it a year or two back was displaying subtitles on overlay.

..and with that said, i'll recommend PotPlayer again.. and that reminds me of one mplayer disadvantage: it (mplayer) doesn't support dxva (at least i'm quite confident it doesn't.. haven't read anything bout it for a while)

and yeah. i really am feeling weird so i'm off to smoke a cig (i know, why not a joint? well, gotta get to sleep soon, work & studying and shit, can't wait for weekend FCUK!)

yeah yeah, i understand your confusion. but if u just clicked that kmplayer link you'd find out it's referring to linux mplayer frontend gui that's built around kde.. ;)

that's also why kmplayer (windows one) had to write The KMPlayer in many place instead of kmplayer as it was using the same name.. :dance2:

anyone have any luck registering at the KMPlayer forum?

I've tried to register in 4 browsers but am unable to do so because I can't see the image when trying to input the Image Verification.

any help would be appreciated thanks.

I'm only trying to find out how to enable 'crossfading' and whether it's possible to display cd cover art when playing my mp3 tracks...anyone point me in the right direction please?

thanks again,

Mike.
