Administrator DKT27 Posted September 15, 2010 Author Administrator Share Posted September 15, 2010 Well, I did benchmark, but I wont post them right now as I feel it was a bit horrible what I was seeing. This build scored a bit less in numbers than the previous one but there were hell lot of glitches. I'll tune my system further and will test again later. And yes, I don't recommend anyone to use this build.
Night Owl
Downloaded ... and deleted. :fear: I'll wait for Beta 7.
Bizarre™
As long as Mozilla doesn't fix the high CPU consumption, I'm gonna stay with 20100909 Build ^_^
ck_kent
:( And I was just about to download it. BTW, how many betas will there be before the final release?
SacredCultivator
Ehhh no idea... Since we aren't at RC's yet...Right now, from what I've read... There will definitely be at least 8 betas...Not too sure how many RC's after that.
steven36
They say 7 betas then a Freeze then into RC I had to reinstall Firefox on this build beta 6 I lost all my addons almost from upgrading Firefox beta so many times :fear: I reinstall the Add-on Compatibility Reporter now getting my addons back for this beta 6 B)
R0H1T
I've been using Minefield(4.0b7pre) for about a couple of years now & its pretty stable unlike what popular belief is with regards to alpha(pre-beta) software. The main problem is with incompatible addons/plugins or when the browser preferences(about:config) are tweaked around too much. If you still have the browser crashing then I suggest go for a thorough system repair(cleanup junk files/folders & registry entries). I've also got chrome (7.0.524.0 canary build) which is quite stable itself but with regards to jaegermonkey(tinderbox) builds of firefox(which I've been using for over a month now) chrome is still atleast twice as fast. For those who wanna keep their addons &/or custom preferences should copy the firefox profile from the C:\Users\CURRENT USER\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles folder & overwrite it in case you wanna reinstall the browser, better still you can use the zip folder(instead of the standard installer) to escape the hassle of (re)installation & extract it anywhere you want just like a portable app(you'll still have a new profile created though if the default firefox profile isn't there already). Bizarre™
@R0H1T:JM has just been merged to TM so bugs and instability should be expected.Furthermore, Mozilla has added / modified a lot of features in Firefox.A lot of Firefox 3.6.* users are in for a surprise once Firefox 4.0 comes out ^_^
silencer
As I know you should wait for beta 7 with bigger changes. Beta 6 has only small bug fixes after 5 like CPU freezing (which I had).

JessicaLeigh
What a disappointment; even with the full understanding it's a beta release. Please wake me up when the final is released. I'll continue to eek by with v3.6.9 until then. Peace mah homies. J-Pō: out! ;) lolz!
jofre
2 hours after installation :- Good navigation; nothing found abnormal .But remember :---» Mine is WinXP Pro Sp3 (32bits) :D
Administrator DKT27 Posted September 15, 2010 Author Administrator Share Posted September 15, 2010 Before you guys start fearing about it, as silencer mentioned, this beta is just a bug fixing release. All the changes planned for Beta 6 were shifted to Beta 7, the new javascript jagermonkey was (probably, not 100% sure) not included in this release. mara-
Since beta 5 fonts looks terrible here. Anyone have same issue? When I disable Direct 2D fonts are normal again. BTW, here is my benchmark.Cheers ;)
jofre
mara:According to y / Benchmark Firefox beta 6 is slower than beta 5. However I feel the contrary. Beta 6 is a little bit faster than Beta 5... :) and works fine .No intentions to return to v. 3.6.9 or even .
Night Owl
Since beta 5 fonts looks terrible here. Anyone have same issue? When I disable Direct 2D fonts are normal again.Yes, I see the same thing with Beta 5 fonts. They're usually a bit "blurry" — not good readability at all. Thanks for the tip about disabling Direct 2D. :)
mara-
@jofreI can't say how it feels because I don't use it as not all addons I use are compatible. And, DKT also did the benchmark and beta 6 is a bit slower for him, too.@Night OwlYeah, that will return good font, but will decrease browser performance significantly.Cheers ;)
