Night Owl
@ck_kent: Thanks for that information. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 too. OK, so there must be some incompatibility between the Firefox 4 Beta 3 from PortableAppS and Firefox 4 Beta 5 from PortableAppZ. I'll delete the folder and start fresh with Firefox 4 Beta 5 from PortableAppZ.
jofre
Thanks for the updates....sometime its not only on speed....safety is also a priority.---------------------------------------------------------------------------- :hi: Safety is the most important, but people here just use 4.0 beta 5 for testing . A good :pirate: must be prepared in all situations :beg:
Administrator DKT27 Posted September 8, 2010 Administrator Share Posted September 8, 2010 Thanks for the updates....sometime its not only on speed....safety is also a priority.---------------------------------------------------------------------------- :hi: Safety is the most important, but people here just use 4.0 beta 5 for testing . A good :pirate: must be prepared in all situations :beg:I agree. But speed does matter. But its a mixture of speed, safety and browser experience. That is why some of us still like to use Firefox over Chrome. See how IE 8 has failed miserably and IE9 Beta has been into everyone's mind for trying it out. No one would have considered it if it didn't perform well in the tests.
henz
My Benchmarks:Note: CPU was overclocked by 5MHz (Bus Speed). That'd be about 120MHz in total overclocked. It may have some impact on the benchmarks. Also, edited the pic to show that both versions of the browser were tested.Got to say. Firefox is going on quite nice. But I don't think we'll see more speed after the Firefox Beta 6 release. :(4.0b5 - 4.0b4 = 6144.0b4 - 4.0b3 = 611next time will be 6xxx, hahaif ff will be atleast the speed of chrome 5, we will wait so longmaybe beta 9 ~ 10 :P
HX1
I installed Firefox 4.0 Beta 5 Portable from the PortableAppZ people over Firefox 4.0 Beta 3 Portable from the PortableAppS people. Everything seems to be running fine and Firefox 4 definitely feels faster. However, whenever I start Firefox 4 Beta 5 Portable, I always see this window:Is that expected? Or is something wrong? :unsure:This happens on almost every PortableAppZ program... basically its how they write their app.. AND I have found this one thing with them.. Run as an Admin and I think the message goes way.. While you may have rights to do so the program is written to not do so, and comes from another location, which locks it out of editing the settings of your installation.. In fact I used to have issues with two installations .. One on USB for FF.. and one on my computer.. in fact it would screw with the extensions... ( written by PortablsApps.com ).. So you can opt to read or not to read.. that is the question..With PortableAppZ .. instead of it reading ANY of the data you already may have present.. NOR writing it.... I mean sometimes PortableApps.com has to rewrite some programs which are available through open source to get them to stop accessing areas by default.. so this is sort of a side effect.. Its not big deal.. but you may have to set some of the settings back each time.. IF the program isn't reading/writing them to an INI on the Flash Drive.. or w/e.. Problem with some of these application that are written the way they are which doesn't allow them to be portable.. and requires part of your HD and other folders.. and more settings in the registry and more INI's per user.. Blah blah.. you know the scenario..ANSWER: Expect it.. and try not to allow it..
Night Owl
Before reading heath28m's response, I tried a fresh install on another Windows 7 Ultimate x64 PC. I still got the same error message. After I read this, I deleted the PortableAppZ folder (i.e. FirefoxPortable), ran the PortableAppZ installer using "Run as administrator", but I still get the error message. :frusty: Maybe that's why nsane only links to Firefox Portable made by PortableAppS. Starting the PortableAppZ version is not friendly. :(@ ck_kent: Did you do any customization to your PortableAppZ install to make the error message go away?EDIT: Oh, after the install, I ran FirefoxPortable.exe as an administrator and now the error message goes away. Strange that they expect us to run a Portable application using "Run as administrator" every single time.

HX1
There and yes.. and What I mean was run the program as Admin..not the installer... and I said.. IF I remember.. so that could still be wrong.. LOL..That above should change that.. The Z is usually used for stuff that they don't have at the S.. and if you don't want to go out and get infected somewhere.. and even then everything is still at scrutiny.. as it should be..
