Microsoft has unveiled a brand new wireless controller which includes a d-pad that transforms from a plus to a disc.

The new controller aims to improve precision, accuracy and control for both directional and sweeping movements. The updated controller includes a special edition matte silver colour with a unique button design and comes with a play and charge kit. The controller features concave analog sticks and gray A,B,X,Y buttons for added style. You can see a demonstration of how the new controller works, below. Microsoft revealed it has successfully patented the transforming d-pad too.

Microsoft says the controller will launch on November 9 priced at $64.99 in the United States. If you're in Europe you'll have to wait until February 2011 to get your hands on your own transformer.

Looks good, they should bundle it with the consoles though. It would look great with the new xbox slim. I have the old controller and I can agree the 8 way D pad is total rubbish, you end up with too many unintentional keypresses.
