Microsoft Fails to Protect Pornographic Content

Shouldn't Microsoft be responsible for protecting the pornographic content on your machine? Michael Alan Crooker, currently imprisoned in Connecticut USA thinks so. And he has gone as far as suing the Redmond Company for failing to protect the pornography on his computer. I think this is a first for Microsoft...

What happened? Here's the scenario. Back in 2002, Cooker became the proud owner of a Compaq Presario PC preloaded with Windows XP. In addition to this the machine also features several unnamed security utilities. The Circuit City store he acquired the computer from applauded the system for its impenetrability and security.

Fast forward to 2004 and Crooker came under the attention of the FBI for alleged gun crimes. In the process of his arrest, FBI agents confiscated his home computer. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigations, they did not manage to get through the security measures. However, the FBI's Cryptologic and Electronic Analysis unit made a mirror image of the hard drive and accessed the contents.

Crooker had an appetite for pornography, and that appetite was visible first off in the browsing history of Internet Explorer. But Crooker took it one step forward and became a porn actor himself, after convincing his girlfriend to participate in a video. Undoubtedly, Crooker's porno will not become ubiquitous on the web like say another great example of home brewed pornography: “One Night in Paris” featuring none other than Paris Hilton.

Despite this, Crooker did feel a “great embarrassment” that intimate moments of his life made it in the hands of FBI agents and debuted legal action against Microsoft. Crooker wants the Redmond Company to pay no less than $200,000 in compensatory and punitive damages.

I think one day someone might sue his/her mother for giving birth to them...
