Some of these might be harmful, like the unsolicited installation of malware. When you use Sandboxie to protect your browsing session, it catches all these changes just as the browser is about to apply them into your computer system. Sandboxie does record these changes on behalf of the browser, but it records them in a special isolated folder, called the sandbox. Thus, with Sandboxie, you can browse the Web securely while still keeping all your browser's functionality for active and dynamic content, such as javascript and ActiveX. All undesired side effects can be easily undone.

No real update, just registration problems for us!!!!

Released on 9 August 2010.

This is the single major change to Sandboxie since version 3.46:

Version 3.48 introduces new Product Keys to replace old Registration Keys, and requires periodic online activation of Product Key. Online Product Activation is not designed to circumvent the terms of the license, those terms remain the same as ever. For more information, please see FAQ Licensing.

correct , the best way till now seems this method

Trick To Sandboxie.v3.46 To 3.48 : Download Old Version of Sandboxie 3.46 Put Key Given in (Close all Process Sandboxie From Background Also)...Than intall new Version of Sandboxie 3.48...Just "Overwrite Not Fresh Install" ......& If They Ask Upgrade Registration Key to Product Key Just Click Cancel Button ...Enjoy Full Fuction of Sandboxie 3.48 Without Any Day Limit ...!

after recheck this way , cross it with some other users its seem to be not working , SB says register but act like the freeware ;)

but why we update to 3.48 even, when there is no REAL update !! 3.46 works gr8 for now.

the only change in 3.48 is product key ! I'm sure u read the changelog ^_^

Now I downloaded the patch on the main page. But i couldnt undertand the 4th Step fully. What do you mean "change its state to "start on demand" and start it. Please some one explain.

1. Install Sandboxie 3.48.

2. You need to stop the driver from running.

3. One way to do it is to disable it and restart the computer

4. Patch the file SbieDrv.sys .then change its state to "start on demand" and start it.

5. Run the application.

6. Enjoy!

I have downloaded the patch on the main page aswell, but it's not working for me.

When I select the directory of Sandboxie, located in C:\PROGRAM FILES\SANDBOXIE and I click on next, it tells me the following:

This programm cannot update the installed version of Sandboxie 3.48 because of the following reason:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\SANDBOXIE\SbieDrv.sys: unknown version

I have followed the instructions in the READ ME text file, I've already tried to reïnstall Sandboxie 3.48 and then try to patch it again after restarting my computer, but it's simply not working.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

it seems I will have to update the readme....till I do so, please read my post.

1 — Download Process Hacker → Download

2 — Install sandboxie

3 — Launch Process Hacker, and click on the "services" tab.

4 — Look for the service with the name "SbieDrv"

5 — Double click it and set its start type to "disabled". Now do the same with the process named "SbieSvc" which is located below "SbieDrv"

6 — Reboot the PC

7 — Apply the Patch

8 — Go into Process Hacker, to the services Tab, and double click "SbieDrv", and change its starting type to "start on demand"....Now do the same with "SbieDrv"

9 — Start the service "SbieDrv". If this doesn't work, and you get some message, double click the service and remove any question marks you see, leaving only its exact location.

Example:

Say its current location is something like this "\??\C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\SbieDrv.sys

We need to turn it into this "C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\SbieDrv.sys"

10 — Start "SbieDrv", and then you're good to go....launch the control center, and it should say the app is registered.

The post above dont work on Windows 7 x64 bit. The patch may be only for x32 bit because it said ":unknow version". So, I have installed Sandboxie 4.46 and registred, then update with version 4.48. It said registred, but I have to renew the licence. Any time when i start Sandboxie, it show a popup to renew the licence. I´ve patched the file "License.exe" and now no popups anymore :-)
