I know Jalaffa is our 1st. Minister here with the support of the President, but even in our countries Ministers fail and sometimes, a lot. :)

That`s why I prefer to be sure, specially because a Web Browser isn`t a single program.

It`s final version--» yes.

My apologies to Jalaffa. :notworthy:

Cheers

Jofre

A little before the problem happened, I clicked on "Find Updates" for my extensions, but I was told 'No updates were found.'

I've just upgraded my netbook to Firefox 3.6.7 so let's see what happens now. :fear:

Oh shit. It happened on my netbook a few minutes ago too.

José, thanks for the XPI file. Unfortunately, Firefox 3.6.7 just doesn't want anything more to do with IDM:

Hmmm, so far four people have already written in bug 382356 that has caused IDM to be blocked:

Comment 99 Dipankar 2010-07-20 18:30:42 PDT

Please provide me with a workaround to work with the IDM plug-in as you guys

provide us with the link on your website

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6973/eula/76836?src=addondetail

to download the IDM plug-in which fails to install giving reference to this

bug. I have bough IDM and I am not able to use it because of your silly

interpretation. I have never seen My Firefox crash.

Please suggest how we can work together on this else i will be forced to look

for legal channels.

Comment 100 libjoe67 2010-07-20 19:34:22 PDT

What bug? Firefox hasn't crashed on me yet. IDM hasn't given me any problems

either.

Can you tell me what we should do considering we've invested money on this

great product?

This really sucks!

Comment 101 Bryan 2010-07-20 20:06:46 PDT

WTF? The only reason I haven't abandoned this browser in favor of Chrome

before is because the IDM integration works, and now Mozilla is blocking it?

If this hasn't been resolved in 24 hrs, guess I'll be dumping Firefox.

Doesn't ANYBODY have a workaround? This whole blocklist thing seems kind of

fascist to me. I don't mind a nice warning that it's unstable (which it is not

for me), but to simply block it is bullshit.

Comment 102 primesghost 2010-07-20 20:09:18 PDT

There is no issue with this add-on. It has worked perfectly for me for years.

Furthermore, not allowing users the option of enabling an "incompatible" add-on

is piss-poor programming and smacks of proprietary design. Reminds me a lot of

Microsoft, welcome to the club...I guess.

A Firefox developer just admitted that they f***ed up big time:

Jorge Villalobos [:jorgev] 2010-07-20 20:45:36 PDT

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING A COMMENT

Bug 578443 was meant to implement a limited block on IDM, but it was applied

incorrectly, and now it seems that most users are being affected. We're trying

to fix this problem as soon as possible, and we apologize for the

inconvenience.

We didn't mean to block IDM for everybody.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

:frusty: is right!

Here are what the Firefox developers are saying now:

Comment 26 Robert Strong [:rs] (do not email) 2010-07-20 20:23:08 PDT

From the discussion in this bug it isn't clear (at least to me) that IDM should

have been blocklisted for 3.6.* vs 4.* and from several comments in bug 382356

it appears that people have been using it with 3.6 without any issues and are

rather upset by it being blocklisted.

Comment 27 Robert Strong [:rs] (do not email) 2010-07-20 20:30:27 PDT

What I see in the blocklist

snip...

<emItem id="[email protected]">

<versionRange>

<targetApplication id="{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}">

<versionRange minVersion=" " maxVersion="3.7"/>

</targetApplication>

</versionRange>

<versionRange minVersion="2.1" maxVersion="3.3">

<targetApplication id="{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}">

<versionRange minVersion="3.0a1" maxVersion="*"/>

</targetApplication>

</versionRange>

</emItem>

Comment 28 Jorge Villalobos [:jorgev] 2010-07-20 20:36:44 PDT

The first versionRange looks wrong. There's no version range specified for IDM,

so I assume it's applying to all, and the minVersion and maxVersion of Firefox

seem to be backwards. It should be something like min = 3.7a1pre and max = 4.0.

Comment 29 Robert Strong [:rs] (do not email) 2010-07-20 20:38:40 PDT

exactly

Comment 30 Dave Townsend (:Mossop) 2010-07-20 20:39:32 PDT

(In reply to comment #27)

> What I see in the blocklist

> snip...

I can confirm this. This means that all versions of IDM are blocked for all

versions of Firefox up to 3.7 right now.

So they will have to reissue Firefox 3.6.7 or put out an emergency 3.6.8. :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:

THE IDM extension is blocked only if the update is performed internally through the Firefox program and not if done through the installer.

Check if this works for you:-

Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Internet Download Manager" you'll see 'idmmzcc.xpi' - it should allow installation to 6.9.8 (do let us know.)

Or you can disable "extensions.blocklist.enabled"

Change it to false.

This is only a temporary measure till firefox updates a fix for it.
