I prefer ESET. You should post your computer specs.

In the end, both are really good. I advice you try both of them and keep what you like. :)

I prefer nothing. No AV, but good FW with HIPS. This is one of my "blazin' fast computer solution". ;P

In recent times though, Norton has made up for their past screw-ups. Not trying to compare Norton with ESET, here.

Believe it or not but I am actually using Norton, and I am very happy with it. I think they are both great! :) as dsc18 said " It all boils down to your personal objectives (and system constraints.)"

Hello 'huazone'

I understand from your message that you wish to know:

1. Which one's better out of NIS 2010 & ESET NOD32 4.

Addressing your concern is important to me; I will do my best to assist you.

I'd like you to know that many anti-virus reviewers rate Norton 2010 products [i.e. Anti-Virus, Internet Security & 360] as one of the best suites of 2010. From my personal experience, I can say that, if you're computer has over 512 M.B. RAM along with at least 1.8 GHz [dual or single] processor, Norton Internet Security 2010 is the best deal. Though K7 Internet Security 10 tends to be the lightest on system resources, but it does not provide adequate protection. To keep a balance between security & performance, I'd recommend Norton Internet Security 2010 over all other security suites. I've used almost all the Anti-Virus products, and there are lots of different ways to answer your question. If you want more performance regardless of security, K9 Suite is the best, then again, it's almost as useless as having no security software because of it's low detection. If you want a balanced between performance and security, the best option is opt for Norton Internet Security 2010. If you're really concerned about your computer's security and fear being compromised, Spyware Doctor with Anti-Virus 2010 is the best choice, along with ZoneAlarm Profession 2010 or OutPost Firewall Professional 2010. If you're not tech savvy and are looking for an all-in-one solution, I'd recommend Norton 360 4. ESET Nod32 4 has a good proactive protection and heuristics, but it's not the only thing you should count while choosing an Anti-Virus product. Lots of things should be taken into account, as firstly, your system resources, your objectives, and what functions would you like it to perform. Traditional Virus Definitions are the most important, followed by Behavior Analysis or otherwise known as HIPS [Host Intrusion Prevention System] succeeded by In-the-could dection and proactive defenses. You should know that Firewall is the first line of defense of your system, and NOD32's Firewall is inferior to Norton's according to many reviewers.

In the end, I can say for best protection, I'd recommend Spyware Doctor with Anti-Virus 2010 along with ZoneAlarm Profession 2010, although it has only a slightest edge over Norton Internet Security, since Symantec acquired PC Tools last year. If you prefer All-in-one protection, then Norton 360 4 is for you. If your system resources are severely low, you should consider upgrading your PC or resort to any HIPS solution, such as DefenseWall.

I hope that answers your question. Please contact me in future if you have inquiries.

Thanking You & Best Regards,

Bizarre™

@huazone:

It's best you try both, and test it with malware samples.

Choose what you think is best and you're comfortable with.

Best to try them both, while you're at it, maybe try kis/kav, as well and make up your own mind. :)

you should test both in your computer, and choose one you really need.In fact, both are good

I agree..

But there seems to be sth. wrong with my win7, every time after I finish installing nod and run it, it's more than likely that my computer will crash.

even when I try it immediately after the setup of win7

Since I switched from ESSS 3 to vers 4 seems I am have ekrn slowing my system often. On another system I have I am using NIS 2010 and it seems less intrsusive ie cpu intensive, than ESSS 4. Just my 2 cents worth..

  • 3 weeks later...

I am a dedicated EAV user. That said I get bored and when the new year anti-virus software is released I jump in to check them out. I just spent the last two weeks comparing about 5 of them. NAV was one. I liked it from previous years versions. They continue to make improvements on its resource use and its scanning speed is fast, but I still found it a little to automated for my liking. I like EAV for the fact I have much more control of the settings, as well, can choose my action when there is an alerts very easily. Just my 2 cents
