Patch doesn't work but did a search for 'newsleecher v4.0 beta 18' on https://www.binsearch.info and '(Newsleecher - SS inc.) - "Newsleecher v4.0 Beta 18.rar" yEnc (1/47)' worked fine. No patch but files to overwrite originals.

if you hover the mouse over the patch you would notice beta 15 in the bottom left corner. there is no working patch for 18 yet. it just came out. now if you do a search on my posts or newsleecher you should find a 17 that i uploaded a loader i found for it. the trail date counts done to zero but the loader keeps it working. note supersearch doesnt work with it and any loader for 18 will not either. need the giganews account version :P

As ChiliBean correctly stated that download includes Beta 18 along with pre-cracked files which work perfectly.

I think both of you guys are right. Their is a new loader for beta 18 (haven't tested myself). SuperSearch does work too but I believe that's because "the new SuperSearch engine, introduced in Beta 18, is totally free to use for all NewsLeecher users. Trial users as well as registered users." So I'm guessing once the final version comes out, SS won't be free anymore and we'll need the Giganews account version.

i will be installing the beta 18 on my kids computer to chck out the supersearch if its free for now. but the patch that is on the front page clearly says Newsleecher-v4.beta15. it did nto work for beta 16 nor 17 and am pretty sure not 18 either. as for supersearch being free this might for a preempty to void one of the illegal lawsuits like newzbin.com got sued to death.

also last night the 3 uploads in newsgroups that binsearch and supersearch under 3.9 find where fakes and danger signs.on ng uploads i only get it from known safe uploaders after its been there a few days for others to try. z0 is a safe poster.

(Newsleecher - SS inc.) - "Newsleecher v4.0 Beta 18.rar" includes a Giganews licence so I would think SuperSearch will work even after the free period.

Also the guy/group who cracked beta 18 (Barge) has released previous betas which have all been clean and worked perfectly, why wait for a specific poster??

Plus this version doesn't use a loader, the actual exe is cracked which is a much cleaner method.

The reason for the free trial is the increase in retention - to test performance etc.

i looked at that extracted one too. im not going to install any newsleecher that came from newsgroups for at least a week of it being uploaded. thats up too you. if it all works out then you can thank the person that applied for a new giganew account with newsleecher. for now i will wait on that one. i remember it was a bit to find one that work with 3.9 final. after a week or so and after checking for anyone posting warnings on that upload i may install it on my kids computer. now after doing that i will run tests and checks to make sure it works pass 30 days or so before even thinking of putting it on my laptop. by then another beta or final be out too :P\\but im not going to trust anything that just got uploaded in less then a day by a random poster.

the new cache system really is kick azz. just spent 2 days getting all the headers for boneless. 660 days. the 3 files for boneless cache size is 750, 399 and 12.304 MBs. thats a total of 12.8 GB. wow. using only 1 GB in ram on the laptop with 2GB of ram. this is so amazing. i like getting the headers so i can do my own looking up.

today este now doesnt like the newsleecher.exe file from the copy and paste. went online for a scan and nod 32 is now the 2nd to say nasty things about it out of 41. 2 vs 39 hmmm. is este been taking bribes? marking same stuff as nasties? giogn to uninstall it and scan and then install original beta 18 on and test first then put copy and paste back on

this has been an ongoing probloem with the first version 4 beta. i guess it takes este a month to update their data files with the latest newsleecher beta

im guessing newsselcher company is not digitally sign their files

The anti-malware companies expect the developers which use the abused protectors to properly identify their files. The properly filled VERSION INFO and a valid DIGITAL SIGNATURE are required.

did some looking up. themida is a type of software protection against cracks. thats why nasties use it too. bascailly newsleecher company needs to digitally sign their files and best yet stop using that solfware proection for version 4.

reinstalled. im going to keep gong as i was. im going to fault newsleecher company on this one

yes is is clean. now the latest este virus update will actually fiind newsleecher.exe (original one) as a nasty. its because of the type of copy protection the software uses is used by bad guys too. from what i could tell beta 18 ss is someones giganews license version. so you ahve to have giganews as the host. if you ahvent try the version 4 yet the cache files are so much somaller. too 2.5 days to get all the headers for boneless. one of the largest newsgroups out there. could never do that with 3.9 final. if you need the ss version there to nzb for it and file hosted for it if you search in the forums

ok, thx, Yes kinda weird how the original newsleecher.exe has 2 false positives on the virustotal.com site, also this file ztvunrar38.dll contains 1 false positive, however it came from the 4.18 SS version, which is needed to bypass the stupid 30 sec popup.

i didnt have a false hit on the ztvunrar38.dll. i even kept the original newsleecher.exe in it and tested the software that way. i think the person installed the program and copy and pasted what was in his newsleecher folder with his giganews approved license one.

do note if you mess with 3.9 final or before you have to make a newsleecher.INi file to control where where you want the cache and downloads at. google "newsleecher.INi" for the newsleecher topic forum on it. if you have 3.9 final and want to kept it too then install the beta as newsleecher v4 or what ever name. note you have to make a seperate newsleecher.INi for the 3.9 final now even though you was ablel to contorl it before hand. in the topic the text line is different from the betas. under your user account both will be under the newsleecher folder thats hidden. now the leech smart and specify commands dont always do what they should do. partly because of when its more the allowed character length unlike 3.9 final that donwloaded it then in the trunk folder

The file i was refering too that had a false positive as well was ztvunrar38.dll that came from this download newsleecher ss.rar, that was posted in another topic.

used http://www.virustotal.com/. if it was a nasty file then most of the scanning software would pop up a hit

Yeah that was the site i used to check the file, never really meant too say it was a bad, 1 out of 39 seems pretty good must be a false positive.
