WAU Manager (Windows Automatic Updates Manager) is a fully featured replacement for the built in Windows Updating interface.

That's exactly what I was looking for to update Windows despite the corruption of the system or Windows Update itself, thanks a lot. 🙌

It should be useful for repairing Windows when you can't try to do it with WU, that's great.

WAU Manager is interesting, as it looks pretty complete and may still be being maintained (unlike the classic WUMT, which does still work), it's hard to tell. Too bad they didn't bother with a dark mode though, as all white is really hard for some to see.

The cleanest and safest way is not to disable the Windows Update service, but to pause the update process for the desired duration.

You can do this using the instructions in my study.

Note: With this application, even if you stop the Update process, only the Windows Defender update will continue in the background.
